6 Bollywood Characters Who Gave #JewelleryInspiration For All Brides To Be!

BY Soha | 18 Jul, 2018 | 3141 views | 3 min read

You may think otherwise, but every time we get a wedding invite at office, it is almost as if we have got an invitation to the Royal Wedding (we wish!). So the lunch room conversation today was obviously about latest trends and inspirations for each of our looks. While we sat and wondered how much jewellery is too much jewellery, I decided to come up with a crash-course on nailing that perfect bridal look for you, inspired by reel-life Bollywood brides!

Aishwarya Rai in Jodhaa Akbar

Jodha Akbar is going to haunt desi brides for a long, long time. Reason? The stunning jewellery that Jodhaa Bai a.k.a Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore. Rajput princesses used to wear 12 pieces of jewellery in total. 12 whooping pieces, that's right! Aishwarya wore chunky jadau chokers, traditional kamarbandh and borla (the Rajasthani mang-tikka) and stacks of traditional bangles, all with kundan and meenakari work.  Psst. Rumor has it that all of this weighed... wait for it - 3.5 kg! Now why aren't we surprised.

Deepika Padukone & Priyanka Chopra in Bajirao Mastani

In the movie, Deepika played the role of a Mughal princess while Priyanka was a Maharashtrian royal. This was also depicted in terms of thour outfits and jewels. Either way, we were left with a lot of jewellery inspi in our kitties, so yay! If you don't know the different between a Nizami  nath versus a Guchhedaar nath, then let Sanjay Leela Bhansali explain with this movie! In multiple scenes, Priyanka's character was scene sporting gorgeous Maharani haars that were worth all the envy, while Deepika won hearts with her minimal look with stunning passa.

Sonam Kapoor in Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo

Yep, we all remember that iconic step from this super sanskari film. But there was another hard-to-be-ignored detail from the film that got girls drooling for days - the stunning kundan jewels that Sonam wore! If you need a crash course on layering your jewellery right, this should be your go-to movie!

Deepika Padukone in Padmaavat

What all can you think of when you think of an ancient Rajasthani princess? Stunning borlas, gorgeous bib-style necklaces, chokers with exquisite stones and multi-layered polki and gold necklaces. Deepika Padukone wore a ton of these, along with armlets and bangles in diamonds and rubies, in traditional Rajasthani cuts and designs. Ladies, we say here is all the wedding inspiration you will ever need!

Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

When Anushka Sharma took to the silver screen in her bridal avatar, it wasn't just Ranbir Kapoor's heart that broke. She looked like a true diva, complete with her red and gold ensemble and exquisite jewellery that even I remember heaving a cold sigh. Her opulent polki set and that jhumar was what won most hearts! It would not be wrong to say that Anushka was the epicenter of the trend of Jhumar-tikka on the side.

Deepika Padukone in Ram Leela

Now here's something for the minimalist bride. Or maybe something for your smaller functions like sangeet or mehendi. Or maybe you can take inspiration from Leela's look for your bestie's wedding ... Either way, the minimalist pieces of jewellery worn in this film were too pretty to not be worn! Deepika wore oxidized necklaces along with big and pretty chandbaali, anklets and jhumkas.

We have our pick! Which one is it going to be for you?
