A Bangalore wedding with Character at Temple Tree Leisure !

BY The WMG Bride | 09 Aug, 2014 | 14756 views | 6 min read

With a venue as gorgeous as Temple Tree leisure, there is little else you need for a perfect wedding. Yet this one with decor ranging from bright, funky  Indian drapes on the wedding day to understated  glam at the reception packed in even more character and punch. With a stellar range of vendors like Kishore Krishnamoorthi, Regan Raj at the lens, Sabrina Suhail at the brush, and planned by 3 Productions, this is probably our first wedding from Bangalore, and hopefully the first of many to come.

Meet Anusha & Samvit

While they both went to school together in Lawrence School Lovedale (ooty), they barely knew each other existed until they moved to Bombay for work,   hung out a lot as friends, and promised to set each other up on dates with their  friends! .  In Anushas words  "Finally in clichéd rom-com fashion, we each realised the person we were looking for was standing right in front of us, setting us up on dates with other people (and deliberately failing miserably at the task)!  Six or so months of dating , and a melodramatic proposal later  we decided it was as good a time as any for the wedding . We had a formal engagement ceremony (for which Samvit had the most stunning 5 karat sapphire and diamond ring designed for me <3) which was held early morning on October 23 in Bangalore, followed by the wedding on May 8 and 9. ”

From the bride:Our wedding was a mix of Palakkad Tambrahm Iyer (bride's side) +Telugu (groom's side) style rituals held over two days. I can honestly say that the best wedding gift that Samvit, my parents and my parents-in-law gave me was to leave the entire planning process entirely to me yet chipping in with help and advice any time I needed it!

The day before the wedding we had the "mappilai azhaippu" or "welcoming the groom" ceremony, where we started with a North Indian style baraat followed by a Puja and then went into a fabulous performance by the Saxophone Sisters.  The decor was kept traditional keeping in mind the function for the evening - lots of marigold, rangoli, colourful matkas and bright colours - seating was diwans covered in bright fabrics all over the open lawn.  We also had caricature artists, palmistry and mehndi artists and a photo-booth in a separate area to keep the guests entertained.

Or wedding day was super early in the morning  and we all agreed that one of the highlights of the morning was the ''oonjal'' ceremony where the bride and groom sit on a swing and relatives/friends sing auspicious songs - right until that moment, we were wondering who amongst our relatives would be able to pull this off and suddenly, my super amazing aunt and uncle burst into song and did the most beautiful rendition of the Carnatic song 'Seeta Kalyanam' - definitely an unforgettable memory for us!  The decor was done keeping in mind  the natural beauty of the venue  - lots of marigold again, bright morning colours, urlis, lamps and other traditional decor elements covering the seating area and all over the venue .  Our caterer , Mr. Prabhakaran, did a fantastic job of the Iyer style  lunch and made a perfect Kerala style Palada Pradhaman Payasam!

We had made a conscious decision not to have a typical stand on stage type reception in Bangalore,  so we opted for a casual after-party/cocktail with speeches by both the dads as well as close friends, a band in the outside area of the venue playing retro/old school numbers (great job done by Shyam & The West Wind) and a DJ later on in the inside area for those in the mood to dance.  Sowmya and her team transformed the look and feel of the venue and took it from the completely traditional look of the morning to a fabulous evening look using elements like bulbs, chalk boards, wine bottles, crystals etc.  Our super amazing friends planned to surprise us with a flash mob (and almost succeeded in pulling it off even!) - all in all, a crazy fun evening!

We had a great experience with all most of our vendors and cannot recommend them enough, especially my MUA, our planner, our invitation card and related stationery designer, and the photographers & videography team!   While the wedding venue itself was a gorgeous outdoor venue that could look anything from super traditional to all out bling depending on your event, our wedding planners- 3 Productions (vendor details below) ensured they did a super job arranging accomodation, transport with utmost efficiency and not to mention the fabulous decor. We were ucky to have two simply AMAZING candid photographers and a videography team- Regan Raj, Kishore Krishnamoorthi & Vinoothna Geetha all did such incredible work to give us the most gorgeous pictures and videos we will treasure forever. My invitation card designer (Ushis- vendor details at the bottom) created a beautiful, understated wedding invite which recieved so many compliments. He also made welcome notes, raw silk bags and designed a cute fan explaining the rituals of the wedding.
