A Pretty Marathi Wedding With The Bride In A Striking Nauvari Saree

BY Aakanksha | 11 Sep, 2019 | 5797 views | 5 min read

Nauvari sarees are so different and unique and something that Marathi brides rock effortlessly, just like our bride Saawani. Her wedding was a perfect mix of two cultures, where the differences were celebrated and the ceremonies were larger than life! The wedding was an intimate, traditional yet contemporary affair with great attention to detail. WhatKnot Photography★ 4.7 shot it in a spectacular manner and we loved the stunning portraits!

Meet Saawani & Joseph

The Indian Wedding

The White Wedding

From The Bride:

The planning was very interesting as we were in the UK and Saawani’s parents were in Pune. Also, dates and venues and invitations had to be sorted fairly early on for the 100 people who travelled to Pune from the UK for the wedding- they had to book flights and apply for visas! While we  started on coordinating with the guests travelling from abroad and details of their dates and flights, Saawani’s parents started the planning groundwork in Pune. Three months before the wedding, Saawani flew to  India to plan the wedding and Jo’s mother helped with the coordinating all the guests from abroad. The one thing we were sure about throughout the whole process was that we wanted to be involved in every aspect of the planning- while there were many professional agencies involved, the wedding had to have a family-planned, personal feel. This was exhausting at times but most definitely worth it!

From the start we knew this wedding was going to be really big, but still wanted an intimate feel to it. We were really grateful that Mr and Mrs Mulay who are very old friends of Saawani’s parents, offered to let us
have the Sangeet and the Hindu wedding at their farmhouse- which was beautiful and also gave the events a completely personal feel for us.

It is hard work planning a wedding, but once the wedding day arrives just let go and focus on savouring every minute- don’t worry about things working out the way you want them to! It’s a crazy ride and just take every
minute as it comes :) also, our family was our absolute strength before and during the wedding- our parents worked so hard behind the scenes that it was very easy for us to just enjoy the week of festivities!

Vendor Reviews:

For the decor, we found Genesis Inc from WedMeGood, and Jinendraa and Foram (from Genesis) were great! Saawani and her mum spent many many hours with them working on the decor for the Sangeet, the English
Wedding and the Reception. Genesis truly understood our taste and turned every venue into a magical place! The Joysmiths did the decor for the Hindu Wedding and brought in the perfect amounts of colour, brightness,
tradition and fun to Ashwavan!

We were really worried about having the right photographers at our wedding- a team who could capture all the special moments at the wedding, without having us worried about someone taking photos all the time, and we especially wanted to avoid posing throughout our wedding! Aditya, and the whole WhatKnot team were super approachable from the start, and understood exactly what we wanted. They made us comfortable and were never in-your-face. They were also fun to interact with during the wedding, and did a marvellous job with the photographs! Can’t wait to see the rest of the photos and videos!

Amruta Mahale did my bridal makeup and she was was incredible in understanding what I wanted and did a fabulous job for both me (Saawani) and my mother!

Mr Ravish Arora and Mr Kelshikar at InnVenue Hospitality Pune did the catering for the Sangeet, English wedding and reception- their multi-cuisine spread was something all the guests are still talking about! Poona Guest
House were the caterers for traditional marathi pangat at the Hindu wedding- the most perfect marathi spread was full of simplicity as well as grandeur.

My sister, Saaniya Chaudhari is a professional dancer and was the choreographer for our wedding. This was her first choreography assignment and she orchestrated an hour long musical made up of acting and 17 dances in a stupendous intercontinental effort! From sending choreography and instruction videos to different countries, she pulled off an incredible programme! Special mention to her!
