Sometimes your soulmate is living right next door and you don't even know it !  Take these two for example, having been neighbours in the same complex since childhood, they finally tied the knot recently (We wanna know how fun that one complex would have been with the baraat and doli both going from the same place!). Shot by the talented Monisha Ajgaonkar from The Photo Diary , who seems to have given this wedding an old world, rustic charm through her photos, this do is sweet, simple and full of love.

Meet Sapna and Kanishk

This Sindhi couple have been childhood friends staying in the same housing complex in Juhu . Sapna says "After being each other’s crush for almost 6 years & a long distance relationship for 1.5 years (Kanishk works in the UK), we decided to get married in April 2014"

The Cocktail

The Wedding

From the bride: The wedding was kept simple and very traditional as per Sindhi Rituals. Majority of planning was handled by me as Kanishk was in another country, who yet contributed in his own ways via phone/internet/Skype. We started with an Engagement, followed by a few traditional Sindhi functions and then the Cocktail party which had a Ballroom theme. A small Mehendi in my house was followed by the wedding in a beautiful temple in Juhu and finally the reception.

I browsed through several fashion websites, magazines, and attended bridal fashion shows for inspiration. But having a designer friend, I chose her to design and make my own and my husband’s outfits. for each event (details of boutique  given below) . I have always trusted her for designing my Indian outfits for any occasion. For my wedding events, She designed my trousseau, my ballroom gown and the lehengas.  We eventually finalized all my wedding outfits based on the overall look that I wanted to achieve for each function.  My forever love for the Color PINK led me to wear a beautiful French pink lehenga with subtle bling for the wedding. Highlighting my personality, a bright peppy outfit for Mehendi was comforting and complimented the fun-filled mood. A beautiful princess-style plain red with a black belt ballroom gown made me feel special & royal!

My makeup artist, Devika (details given below), was fabulous with her work. I had never done a lot of make-up before wedding as I’ve an oily skin and was afraid of breakouts or skin problems. She gave me a pre-wedding trial & transformed my look with some impressive makeup products. A very sweet & understanding person to work with!

I did a LOT of research on internet & contacted a lot of Candid Photographers and found The Photo Diary which was in accordance to our expectations & budget! They captured our moments in a very stylish and unconventional way…the fun-filled ones, the emotional ones, the rituals. The couple-shoot was the best part… Monisha used her ‘photo-sense’ and captured us brilliantly. She even agreed to do one crazy photo shot for us where I managed to get on a cruiser bike and Kanishk jumping in the background.
