An elegant Nikah spanning Delhi & Mumbai

BY The WMG Bride | 08 Oct, 2014 | 4261 views | 3 min read

Morning weddings are always a pleasure to feature - they photograph so much better ! But add in all white tenting and drapes , lush green lawns and a  simple, restrained white and green color pallette- and you have yourself a setting that is elegant, classy and minimalistic . From a classic farshi sharara on her nikah , to a  glam layered anarkali on the reception- this wedding features one of our fav Mumbai makeup artists Varsha Gidwani , and also some familiar faces you may recognise :)

Meet Lehen and Adnan

They met while on their way to Alibaug for a meal at a common friends house. Maybe it was the boat they were on, maybe it was destiny but they never looked back from that first meeting !

From the bride: We had four functions in all. The Haldi, mehendi and nikah took place at my Nana's bunglow in Delhi as we wanted a small and intimate affair. The reception was held at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. Me and my mom were involved in every detail from the beginning. From choosing which flower will go where to which plate will be used, we both made sure that everything's just perfect.

I would like to mention that my Nikah dress was designed and created in Pakistan by my designer Freya Gul Katchi. It was a result of several skype calls and whatsapp's. It arrived just 5 days before my Nikah and thankfully, it was perfect! I chose a farshi gharara with a long kurta. My dupatta was a traditional Pakistani 7 yard long one and had exquisite embroidery on it. Freya's work is very unique and I absolutely love her designing. She made me a matching batwa and my husband a matching pocket square. All my nikah jewellery was over 100 years old. (Wow :))It was worn by many generations of the ladies in my family and passed down to new generations. The jewellery was traditional antique Lucknowy Kundan Jewellery. My reception jewelry was from AS Motiwala jeweler's and I highly recommend to keep it light. Brides should make sets which can be worn more often. I got my makeup from Susan of Plum Gk1 for Delhi functions and Varsha Gidwani for the reception. Both of them did a fab job. My husband's nikah outfit was from Raymonds and he chose Golden boutique by Avinash Punjabi for the reception. Kangan films were our photographers for all the Delhi functions and Munna did the photography for the reception. As an advice to bride's to be, I personally feel that a day wedding is great. I highly recommend it as mine was a day Nikah. Also, try and keep your duppata and top light and go in for a heavy bottom. Invitations and guest lists are the biggest pains, so make sure they are your first and topmost priority.
