An Indo-British Wedding at Neemrana Fort Palace

BY The WMG Bride | 06 Oct, 2014 | 4892 views | 4 min read

Weddings at The Neemrana Fort  always tug at our heartstrings -  the rustic, yet majestic charm to that place  is kind of irreplaceable anywhere else. Add to the mix a British groom in a gold sherwani, an Indian bride who stuck to classics,  and photographs by the Creative Lens team that are not just beyond gorgeous but encapsulate the spirit of this affair , and you have yourself a wedding that is quaint, elegant and pretty as a picture.

Meet Heena & Declan

Heena recounts "Four years ago, I was completing my MBA and working in an investment bank . I met my husband in this office, a day after my birthday, and think it was the best birthday present from the powers above :)"

From the bride:  Since our loved ones were coming to celebrate with us from around the world,  we wanted to pick a stunning location that would allow us to create a beautiful wedding, but also a memorable experience for our guests- many of who were coming to India for the first time and traveling a long long way from home . Hence a destination wedding was inevitable. We imagined a traditional Sikh wedding in a stunning location for the pheras and  one of the first things that we could visualise when we visited Neemrana was the area we chose for our pheras.

For Mehendi we had   red , yellow and green as a dress code- I had my bridesmaids in green saris matching me for the mehndi, our cocktail was a black tie affair and the wedding was an elegant, royal themed one. I wanted something fun for the Mehndi. I wanted to play with flowers in my hair, and I wanted a rajasthani royal look but wanted to wear a sari- so mixed and matched different finds from many shopping trips and put it all together. I found my outfit for the mehndi when we walked into a shop and saw this beautifully simple, bright and fun sari. My mum worried it would be a little bit 'plain' for the bride- but decided we would be able to be creative with jewellery.   I am absolutely crazy about mehendi and have tried just about every location in Delhi to find the best. My mehndi walla was an artist- I really couldn’t have been happier than what I was- he was able to create exactly what I wanted- not something close- but exactly the design I had asked for. My mum is known for her talent with creating beautiful spaces and i couldnt have been prouder to see how amazing everything looked at Neemrana for our wedding because I know my mum planned every single detail from the lighting to the flower arrangements - and it was absolutely stunning. In terms of professionals who did a great job- My make up artist, our manager from Neemrana- Amresh Sigh Chauhan- and our photographers who were able to capture the most beautiful photographs! Our photographers, Shweta and Soumak from Creative Lens captured the most stunning photographs. They were genuinely interested in understanding what we were looking for, and they worked tirelessly to capture moments that I truly believe many other photographers would have missed. They truly are very talented and together an amazing team. We couldn’t be happier with the beautiful albums we have- moments we will treasure forever that are now sitting on our coffee table !
