Beautiful Delhi Wedding With A Bride Who Designed Her Own Lehenga!

BY Latha Sunadh | 12 May, 2017 | 7649 views | 3 min read

Childhood friends and school buddies, it's so cute that these two had a pre-wedding shoot at their school in uniforms. And not just that, this wedding also had the bride design her own lehenga in an unconventional hue, we love! Photography by Naman Verma Photography★ 4.9  was beautiful and dreamy.

Meet Parul & Jai

"Me and my husband (Jai), we met in school 11 years back and have been dating since then. It has been a long journey from high school sweethearts to full time husband and wife.

As our love story started in school, we decided to choose our wedding venue in the same premises. We studied together in Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, Subroto Park and got married and engaged there only. In fact, we even had our pre wedding shoot done in our school, wearing our school uniform where we use to hangout as school kids when we started dating," says Parul.

From The Bride:

"Beautiful lighting is the key to hosting an outdoor event and the great thing is, it doesn't need to be expensive! Nothing transforms a space quite like the right lighting. Candles, string lights, light bulbs, coloured lights and lanterns all created an ambience and added warmth that we wanted for our wedding and giving it a dreamy fairy tale touch.

I am a designer, passed out from NIFT, Delhi with my own label- The Tailorbird by Parul Gandhi.  The two most important men of my life - my dad and my groom, wanted me to design my outfits of my own. They said my education is a waste if I end up wearing other labels on the most important event of my life. So I decided to design and make my outfits.

More than me, my dad was super excited about my lehenga. He used to frequently take off from his work and sit with my karigar to keep a check on work being done. As a result, as my outfit was getting ready, my dad would often throw around terms like zari,  naksi , dabka, swaroski at me, trying to be show off that he knows it all. The expression on his face when he saw me as a bride on my D-Day was priceless.

I wore an extremely different colour lehenga on my wedding. I designed a  deep wine colour lehenga with mulberry silk and beautifully hand-crafted it with zari ,bead and sequin work. Various other trims that were used included swaroski, dabka and naksi. I gave a touch of mauve to the embroidery, so I teamed it up with a mauve double dupatta," adds Parul.
