Meet Sandhya & Scott
"We live in San Francisco and we first met at Alamo Square Park in San Francisco when a common friend asked us both to come catch a Bollywood performance. The performance turned out to be a no show but we hit it off. Months later, some of their friends were part of a charity, and both of us were present to support our friends. He asked me out on a date and after the first date I knew this was meant to be" says Sandhya.

With over 90 members of their close friends and families travelling to India to attend the wedding, from North America, Sandhya and Scott decided to make it an unforgettable experience not only for each other but for their guests as well. Given that Sandhya’s family is from Kerala, they opted to have an intimate and elegant wedding for about 150 people on the banks of the Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kumarakom. After a traditional Indian welcome, the guests were not only witnesses but also enthusiastic participants in a Rajasthani themed multi-colored Sangeet. A Rajasthani dhol band started off the Sangeet and the night saw all the guests, Indians and non-Indians alike, participating in Bollywood performances and flash mob dances. This was followed by a traditional Malayali wedding the next day, complete with the groom, his best man, and groomsmen coming in on a traditional Kerala boat.
The day was culminated in a Western-style reception with toasts, a first dance and a father-daughter dance to honor Scott’s side of the cultural wedding customs. On the wedding day, Sandhya decided to go for a traditional Kerala white and gold Kasavu saree and Scott kept up with her in a Kerala white & gold mundu (dhoti) and a gold kurta. With the reception being Western, Sandhya wore a gown in shades of blush pink and white, while Scott wore a black tuxedo with a blush pink vest and bow-tie to match Sandhya.A student of fashion herself, Sandhya's visions for her outfits were brought to life by Amrita Custom Elegance, a Chennai-based bridal boutique owned by her mother.
