Flashback Friday: This Photographers Boho Wedding in Chandigarh

BY Latha Sunadh | 10 Mar, 2017 | 3616 views | 5 min read

How does one make their wedding timeless and interesting? Does decor or style lose relevance as years pass by? The answer to that question is here, at this wedding. Kismet, this wonderful blogger and wedding photographer from the blog The Unreal Bride had her beautiful wedding in 5 years back and we found those pretty pictures now. And one look and you'll know that her style and the event, both stood the test of time. There are so many amazing things that this wedding has that are enviable - a non-religious ceremony, bagpipers and a farm land that was worked on to make it ready for an evening of this scale. And the decor was so bohemian and full of awesome! Photographers Carmen & Ingo  photographed this wedding to perfection and each picture is stunning!

From The Photographers:
"An Indian wedding has always been on our wish list, and then, we still cannot believe how things always come together. Kismet and Nitin never missed a chance to apologize that their wedding is not going to be a traditional, typical Indian wedding. And we never missed to let them know, what ever comes we will love it!

The first day was the Civil ceremony and the evening party and day two was the Traditional evening ceremony. Interesting side note here: Kismet and Nitin have different religions. Thats also a reason that they decided to leave traditions behind and have a non typical Indian wedding. So it happened that Kismet was not part during the ceremony for Nitin (but sure came for the party later). This ceremony was followed by a huge party! It might have been 300 or more people, a lot of dancing and not to forget the delicious food" SAY carmen and Ingo, the Photographers.

"Kismet and Nitin's Big Fat Indian Wedding Day was right in time for sunset we entered the fantastic venue! What an incredible set up at this little farm. Kismets Dad, Robin, started with personal words for the couple and this was followed by a surprise from Kismets brother Vir, himself looking like a worrier waked into the venue guided by two bagpipe players. Turned out, these bagpipers are from Kismets Grandfathers regiment in the army. Nitin gave Kismet a wonderful ring, the friends played “Something stupid” together with bride and groom as well as the family re-wrote “Que Sera, Sera” for the couple.Cutting the cake and opening champagne closed this goose-bumps-on-steroids wedding ceremony and opened a amazing dancing, eating and fun party!" adds Carmen.

From The Bride:

"I am fussy. Like REALLY fussy!! So the venue became my object of pickiness and obsessiveness. No place was quite right. We literally scoured all the areas around Chandigarh and finally, my parents friends told us about a lovely piece of land not too far out of Chandigarh and we decided to take a look. Note: It was pure farm land with wheat growing on it. Did it work for us? Apart from the fact that it needed a LOT of work on it, it was perfect. Surrounded by green fields and trees to dance under, what more could we (I) ask for? We tilled the land and planted every flower you see except for the lilies that were sent by truckloads from my in-laws friends based in Manali where they grow lilies. Decor was thought of by all of us and put together by my amazing sister-in-law Amrita Mahal Nakai. By Keeping it Simple at our wedding, we were doing away with things like the hundreds of strange rituals I am not sure of myself (no offence to anyone!) but would probably have to sit there while people shoved many a ladoos down our throats. So we did not had nothing religious -  it was a civil ceremony and a party" says Kismet. "For my makeup, there was NO way I was going to any beauty salon where they would most definitely paint my eyes magenta/maroon and gold regardless of the colour of my outfit. So it was April Sher Sekhon, my friend and co-founder of The Unreal Bride who did the honours. Her mum is Nancy Bhaika who made my lehenga. The make up for the do was perfect and I looked exactly the way I wanted to. Nothing over the top but with just a little bit of drama! As far as the bling goes, I like it more than I like make up , but I like silver more than gold. I didn’t want to spend truckloads on something that I would probably wear only once in my life and that is where Amrapali came to my rescue. Not very expensive, unique designs and so many things to chose from! In the end – I wore a combination of Amrapali jewellery along with some from my Mum and Masi. Rahul Datta of Starving Artist Films made our wedding video (his first wedding film ever) and another cool dancing one, which we loved" adds Kismet.
