Here's How This Bride Picked & Styled Budget Outfits To Create Unique Bridal Looks!

BY Sakshi | 08 Jul, 2019 | 8651 views | 8 min read

Who doesn't love a bride who can not only manage to look amazing at her wedding, but wrap up her bridal shopping on a budget too? Well, we know we sure do, and there are loads of options you can find in the exclusive WMG Bridal Gallery! Here is a bride who picked amazing outfits on a budget! Real Bride Samiksha picked some very nice budget bridal buys for her wedding in India despite staying abroad, and we love how each one of them popped despite every outfit being below 50K! Over to her as she tells us how she picked and styled her different budget bridal looks!

"Being an active Instagram user, my first move was to follow all major wedding pages like WedMeGood and then downloaded the app since it was so much more convenient! Using the app, I found vendors for floral jewelry, mehndi favors, mehndi artist, MUAs! All I did was found their contact on your app and emailed or DM’d them on IG! I had an idea about what kind of wedding clothes I wanted but refrained from online shopping from Aza or perniapopupshop but those websites helped me with various designs that I preferred. One of my High school friends suggested trying out wedding exhibitions in mumbai so came across “Shubh Vivah” which takes place in Marriott Juhu around November. During my 10 day trip to Mumbai, I attended Shubh Vivah and on the first day of the exhibition I bought three of my wedding outfits! This exhibition was such a god sent one for me! All the vendors had amazing collections and definitely not as pricey as I thought it would be!"

"I kinda had a fixed budget- each outfit was under 50-60k and the exhibition helped me stay under that price range! My vision was that whatever outfits I picked I could wear it in the future as well!"

Mehndi outfit- Customised crop top and skirt made from saree costing 10K

I bought this saree from the exhibition for 10,000 bucks from a Pune based vendor. I didn't want to wear it as a saree so I decided to wear it as a saree lehenga instead so all I did was stitch the blouse as a crop top. And, went to a local wedding trousseau shop called Sonu Studio in Lokhandwala market and showed my mehndi saree to her and made a lehnga which was not heavy at all (she is absolutely amazing! I have been her customer for 5 years or so and whenever I come to India I always go to her shop to get some trendy Indian outfits!). So, I could easily repurpose this outfit either by wearing the crop top and stitched lehenga by themselves or the saree and blouse alone! That's how I put together my mehndi outfit.

Regarding jewellery, I opted for Floral Art by Srishti- she sent me various designs and I also researched from her IG page and picked a piece that went perfectly with my outfit. I wanted a pop of yellow in my jewelry and she made it happen! Her quality is absolutely flawless!

Sangeet outfit- Navy blue lehenga for 47K

Since this event involved a lot of dancing I wanted to opt for a lighter lehnga and minimal jewellery. So, at the same exhibition, I found this lovely navy blue lehenga from Sammohi Design for 47,000 bucks! I'm a fan of colors that pop in an outfit so the best part of this lehenga was the pop of fuschia pink in the dupatta and the motifs stitched on the lehenga! It was very light weight, had a beautiful open back and I could easily dance in it! Again, I wish to repurpose these outfits so the elegance and non-gaudyness of the lehenga can allow me to wear it at another wedding or function in the future too!

For the jewellery, my parents bought me this elegant emerald diamond set from Shilpi Jewelers in Lokhandwala market. I loved the design when I saw it first because it not only looked amazing on Indian wear but also on Western clothes like ball gowns! It wasn't heavy and it definitely made me feel like a princess. It had its own charm and went very well with the lehenga! Both jewellery and this lehnga went hand in hand with each other. The jewelry set was around 1.2 lakhs. I also bought a slim bangle bracelet from Elle collection for 2,000 just to match the diamond set.

Haldi Outfit- Reused mom's saree

It was my mom's saree which she bought around 35 years ago! All I did was get a yellow blouse that matched with the saree. It was simple and very light weight.

Bridal Outfit- Kanjeevaram saree for 38K with a customised dupatta for the head for 13K

With all of the research I did on the app, IG I wanted to wear something completely different from what other brides opt for! So, keeping our Oriya tradition in mind, I went for a kanjeevaram saree which I purchased from Roopkala★ 4.7 , Santa Cruz. They had a huge variety of colors, design and work! I wanted something that I could walk in considering it's a saree. I didn't want a loud red color because since it's an outdoor wedding the color would clash with the pastel hues of the mandap. So, I went for a deep maroon with traditional gold border and elephant motifs on the pallu. It looked so regal that I couldn't wait to see myself in it! The saree was for 38,000 bucks. I wanted to stitch the blouse as a 3/4th sleeve one with body hugging sleeves because that way the golden borders would be accentuate the entire look! The last and final touch for my bridal outfit- was stitching a wedding dupatta so I went to Sonu Studio in Lokhandwala and asked her to stitch a pale pink net dupatta with maroon velvet borders (border of the dupatta matched my saree). She added gold work on the net part of the dupatta and had it ready for me in a week (cost- INR 13,000)! It was a little heavy for my head but I could manage to wear that for 4 hours easily! I wanted to highlight the saree overall and all the other things that went with it should not negate the beauty of the saree.

With jewellery, I told my mom that I don't want anything gaudy and would wear only three neck pieces around my neck. So, I bought a lovely choker from Elle collection Lokhandwala with matching earrings (cost- INR 11,000). My mom got me a real polki set from Shilpi Jewelers. Since, this saree looks so regal I wanted to buy real temple jewelry which would go perfectly with this saree! So, I got this temple necklace with a Devi like pendant along with matching real gold bangles. Also, to honor my culture my mom got me these traditional gold bangles which every oriya bride wears. I didn't want to wear a naath because I felt it would look too gaudy with this saree so I ditched that. I wanted a very nice maang Tikka and really liked the one Anushka Sharma wore for her wedding. So, I went to Elle collection showed them the pic of anushkas maang Tikka (cost- INR 6,000) and asked them to switch the beads to maroon colored rubies so that it would match my saree perfectly.

Reception outfit- Mint green lehenga for 45K

I wanted to buy a subtle color and mint green was on my mind! I came across feathership store (their store is right next to Roopkala in Santa Cruz) at the Shubh Vivah exhibition and instantly fell in love with that lehenga (cost- INR 45,000). It was a little heavy but since it was the last event I let that slide! It had amazing muted gold work done on it and the blouse was a corset with a beautiful sweetheart shaped neckline.

I wanted to get jewelry that would match the work done on the lehenga as opposed to the color of the lehenga. So, I went to Elle collection and bought a muted gold set that matched the work on my lehenga. The set cost me INR 6000 bucks. It looked like real jewellery and could definitely wear it again!
