How Long Do You Have To Wait To Plan A Big Wedding?

BY Sakshi | 11 Jun, 2020 | 4683 views | 3 min read

Now that's one of the million dollar questions on everyone's mind- at least those who had their weddings planned in 2020 or 2021. With the pandemic catching everyone by surprise, there is a lot of uncertainty all around, and weddings happen to be one of those arenas where uncertainty looms as well- after all, it's one which comes with emotional and financial repercussions. With Lockdown 3.0 allowing certain relaxations on restrictions like gatherings of 50 people keeping measures in check, lockdown weddings have started happening, or Micro weddings as they are called. Couples are going ahead with getting hitched on a smaller scale, with only their near and dear ones around or over video conferencing.

So while intimate weddings per say are allowed to happen with permissions, for a lot of brides and grooms the question remains- when will big weddings be allowed and how long would you have to wait to have one?

Well, to be honest, till the time a successful vaccine isn't developed or the virus disappears into thin air,  no one can say with a 100 percent certainty, but yes, with weddings of 50 people allowed right now, hopefully by the end of the year we can expect gatherings of 100 people to be allowed with social distancing measures in place, which seems very doable, of course, depending on how the situation develops in the country. But there's no point hoping and planning for a 500 people wedding right now- even if the government ends up removing the cap on the crowd size and allowing big weddings to happen, you wouldn't want to be stressed about the health risk of having to ensure cases do not spread in such a large crowd- so for a while, intimate weddings seem to be the only viable way to go through with a wedding.

Of course, with borders reopening and domestic flights getting operational, we can expect more prospective brides grooms and families to reunite, and while 50 might be too small a crowd, this year may be all about 100 people gatherings, but not as of now. With the current situation at hand, we can possibly look (and hope) at post March next year for a big wedding.. over a year since the lockdown, when hopefully we have a solution to this pandemic at hand, and life gets back to normal.
