Indo-Nepali Wedding With A Bollywood Style Love Story & Adorable Portraits

BY Sakshi | 10 Aug, 2022 | 2083 views | 7 min read

When a wedding spans countries, it seldom comes without drama! Srishti and Ritij, with their Indo-Nepali love story had quite a few ups and downs, including the pandemic! They got married just the way they wanted, with some adorable couple shots and the bride in a beautiful red Sabyasachi lehenga. From a fun mehendi to a wedding with Santorini feels, this pretty wedding had a lot of ideas and outfits worth pinning!

Meet Srishti and Ritij

It all began in 2015 during our MBA in one of the most romantic colleges of the country – Symbiosis, Lavale. We’re both just so obsessed with each other and in love that we didn’t know when we actually fell in love and life happened. We got jobs at different cities after our MBA. He went to Bangalore and I went to Gurgaon. Life went on and our love kept growing. But one fine day, everything went boom down the drain! Yes, like a lot of young couples we broke up. Oh no wait, HE broke up with me! Why, you ask? Well, because my dear boyfriend felt he was going to be pressurized to get married by my grandmother and he wanted to focus on his career (like I would have ruined his career duh!). So yes we broke up, we cried and though we both thought it was over, we still had that one hope that we would be back together. And why not? If Virat & Anushka could get back to a perfectly happy married life after a rough break up then why not us?

6 months went by and we never met and hardly spoke. There was not a day I spent without thinking of him but well my ego got the best of me and I pretended to not care even though I cried to sleep every night. While there I was, pretending to put up a strong front amongst my people, he too was doing the same struggling to try to spend a day without actually thinking of me. Well, but when he could no longer stand the separation, he decided to go full Bollywood and travel all the way from Bangalore to Kurseong, a small town in Darjeeling, to meet my grandmother and ask her for my hand and promise her that he would never leave her grand-daughter ever in his life. After meeting her, he boarded a flight to Delhi to meet me. (I was clueless about everything that was happening at my grand mom’s home that day and what was yet to unfold for me that night). He decided to turn up at the mall where I was out shopping with my friends and surprise me. Na, I wasn’t surprised seeing him. I was shocked! Want to know who helped him reach my grand ma and me? My own aunt, who slyly kept his plan a secret from me to only make everything perfect again between us.

Well, the rest is history! Our love for one another had just grown with the distance. Oh wait! We’d always been in a long-distance relationship – him in Bangalore and me in Gurgaon, but yeah this distance was another ball game altogether! It just made us both realize we are made for each other and come what may, we can never give up on each other.

Wedding

From The Bride:

28th November, 2021. Our little wedding (yeah the pandemic ruined the concept of the Big Fat Indian Wedding) was a Hindu wedding but a cross country one – Nepal & India. Well, it was one of the most interesting weddings because it was crazy affaire with my strict Nepali grandma trying to get the pandit to perform Nepali hindu rituals and my 2 States ki Amrita Singh type Punjabi mother in law trying to get him to do it the Punjabi way!

We didn't want to kill the vibe of our wedding with a theme. We wanted our wedding to be a laid back, fun, and a time for our closest friends and family to enjoy together and make it a wedding they remember for life with beautiful colors, fairy lights and a whole lot of love!

I’ve always dreamed of the perfectly imperfect magical wedding where it’s going to be all about enjoying and making memories that will be captured by The Wedding Filmer while wearing my beautiful Sabyasachi outfit. And yes, it definitely was the wedding I’ve always dreamed of having.

About WedMeGood

I used the WedMeGood app to look for my Make Up artist. It was a big big help. I was exhausted finding the right one and the reviews on the WMG app made it so much more easy!

Vendor Reviews

Venue: The LaLiT Mangar

Breathtaking property! Choosing The LaLiT Mangar as our wedding venue was the best decision. We wanted a property which gave the feels of modern plus heritage and this property gave us all of it. The rooms, the food, the staff, everything was brilliant. They were very accomodating in terms of a lot of things. If you want a property which will give you the perfect backdrop of the Aravalis for your mandap, then this is it! Highly recommended!

Photography: Shashank Issar Photography

Shashank is a gem! The kind of shots he's taken are absolutely beautiful! Looking at the pictures we wonder how and where and when did Shashank manage it! It's all just extremely amazing! We're so glad The Wedding Filmer team suggested Shashank as our photographer for the wedding. It was a delight having him around. You won't stop smiling and laughing with him and his team being around!

Makeup Artist: Parul Garg Makeup

Parul is a wonder! I looked like a dream! I looked exactly the way I had envisioned myself to be with the confidence I had in the magic of her hands. The whole team was such a fun bunch to be around and the playlist just makes you want to groove! Special mention to Ashu for being such a sweetheart and literally a buddy to calm you out of the wedding jitters!

Decor: Curaborate Weddings

Curaborate weddings knows how to create the most beautiful vibe and make your vision come to an absolutely beautiful reality. So much power to the Rockstar girls Mehak and Ishani for being so brilliant and amazing!

Bridal Outfit: Sabyasachi

No words can justify the beauty of my wedding lehenga designed by Sabyasachi! Inspite of all the covid restrictions of not being allowed to go to the store and try out the lehenga, the team perfected my outfit!

Groomwear: Dewan Saheb

Great customization of the sherwani with just the right amount of mix of colors/shades to match the class!

Videographer - The Wedding Filmer

Absolute brilliance! We cannot get over the beauty of the trailer that TWF created for us. Every shot beautifully transitions into the next so seamlessly and with such intricate story telling in sync with the lyrics! What brilliance! Can't believe how amazingly these guys have aced every second of the 3 minutes and 58 seconds. We are so so so glad we were one of the lucky ones who could onboard The Wedding Filmer to capture the most beautiful moments of our life and see them turn into the most beautiful film.

Mehendi Artist: Manoj Gupta Mehendi Arts

Extremely reasonable and beautiful work. At a time when people were quoting insane rates, I found Manoj who gave not just the best and reasonable cost but ensured the team reached on time and did a brilliant job with the bridal and family & friends mehendi.
