Malayali - Punjabi Beach Wedding In Varkala With A Ton Of Inspirational Ideas!

BY Latha Sunadh | 13 Apr, 2017 | 5738 views | 2 min read

Varkala - 100000+ brownie points for this clever couple who chose this unconventional destination. This beachy surf-school town in Kerala had it's first 2 States wedding, a Punjabi - Malayali one that had all the trappings of a movie. The mandap was just a few steps away from the sea, the bride glowed in her floral lehenga and her Kasavu sari and oh, the cute little wooden signages and candid pictures were really cute! Indian weddings by Katia★ 5 caught the couple in some beautiful moments as the beach provided a bohemian backdrop.

Meet Japtej and Gayatri

"Both of us met at our work place in Chennai. It was not really love at first sight but more like friendship turning into love and now life long companionship," explains Gayatri.

The Wedding

gallery                 From The Groom: "Gayatri wanted a beach wedding and we fell in love with Varkala as we had visited it last April for Gayatri's birthday. So it became a natural choice and also the fact that none of our families or friends had seen the place earlier, added to the surprise and the freshness of the venue. We had three events - Mehendi, Cocktail and the Wedding. We were clear from the beginning that we do not want heavy decor as the venue itself was perfect for the outdoors. For the Mehendi, we had lots of colours as it was a day event - hundreds of multi-coloured carnival flags and drapes. Evening cocktail had a lot of play with fairy lights and candles. The wedding itself was 15 steps away from the beach so it had the most perfect back drop and apart from that we added few quirky elements like wooden signages and interesting flowers," adds Japtej. "We bought our outfits mostly in Delhi and jewellery in Kerala. My advice for all brides and grooms - please plan the wedding yourself. It feels a lot more personal and intimate. Obviously its not easy, but it certainly is a lot of fun," adds Japtej. Vendors: Photography: Indian weddings by Katia★ 5  Makeup: Renju Renjimar  Outfit : Sahil ★ 4.6
