Open Hair on the Wedding Day: These Real Brides did it

BY The WMG Bride | 02 Apr, 2016 | 8182 views | 3 min read

If you are pinning a dupatta to your head, chances are you have been told you need an updo to keep it in place. Well, while an updo is recommended we couldn't help but admire some of these brides who left their hair open and still looked every bit the bride- with maang tikkas et all. The problem with dupattas and open hair is that they tend to flatten out your hair and just not give too much character. How to leave your hair open on the wedding day: - Make sure you have either volume in the front, back or both . The dupatta will need some back combing for it to rest on something - If your dupatta is heavy, it may defeat the purpose of leaving your hair open and weigh your hair down making it look flat -While open hair is great, make sure there are pins in place, which softly tuck back the hair at the ear region so you can show off your jewellery - Annoying flicks can kill a photograph. Open hair is not the same as hair on your face, make sure your hair is awat from the face.

Volume at the front for Kanika

From the wedding: Kanika

Kanika's dupatta had a pretty heavy border, making it a bit of a challenge to get it pinned on the head. The volume at the front was a great idea and the dupatta was kept slightly further back. This way, hair didn't seem flat inspite of a heavy dupatta

Volume at the back + Lightweight Veil for Mallika

From the wedding: Malika & Jehan

Mallika kept her look elegant and free spirited with a light veil on her head. In this case, the front strands were left loose and open and the back of the head had volume for the dupatta to rest on. Smart ! Swept to one side with a barely there dupatta for Takshila 1439981186_23_IMG_0110 1439981186_24_IMG_0194

From the wedding: Takshila  & Anshul

Takshila played it safe with a lighter than light dupatta on her head, and all her hair on one side.
No Dupatta, just open waves for Aastha 155-manish-arora-lehenga-2 087-Resized-2631

From the wedding : Aastha & Kapil

Aastha was an unconventional bride- and she chose to accentuate the modernity of her Manish Arora Lehenga with just loose open waves.
Channeling the Muslim look for Lehen 1014319_10151421620647237_767859350_n 1010163_10151421622042237_554616114_n

From the wedding: Lehen & Adnan

Muslim brides don;t always tie up their hair, and they always look great. Lehen did the classic Mughal thing- take one part of her dupatta in front of the shoulder, and one at the back to create a soft, natural look with waves.
