BY Apoorva | 31 Aug, 2016 | 10512 views | 4 min read

All brides want their wedding day to be completely perfect, but to be honest, after their big day has been and gone there are often a few things that they would change if they had the chance. So to help you make sure there’s nothing you’re going to miss out on or regret, we’ve asked our Real Brides what they would do differently if they could ‘do it all again.

Cutting costs on Videography

Rekha says “Not booking a videographer! We decided to cut costs and just do one high-end candid photographer. But when I realised that we didn't have any functions on film, which will be my biggest, regret. Photos are amazing, but reliving it on a film is a different experience.”

Not Keeping a Check on Guestlist

Nandini says “Definitely cut down on the wedding guest list. There were so many people at our wedding who just came and went. Did not even come to greet us or click a picture. It actually felt that they came only for the food! We could have spent that amount pampering our really close friends”

Not hiring a Day Planner

Esha says “We managed to plan all our functions on our own and they were fantastic. But event co-ordination on the D-day was a mess! Cousins were getting ready or drunk, I was panicking and my fiancée had given up. There was no use of all that pre-planning without execution. Not hiring a day-planner is something we totally regret.”

Not wearing sensible shoes

Priyanka says “If you’re usually a sneakers and flip flops kinda girl but you’re dreaming of wearing skyscraper Jimmy Choos on your wedding day, then you really need to think this one through! I literally was crying at the end of my cocktail party as dancing in high heels was never my thing! It ruins your entire evening if you are uncomfortable."

Spending more on the wedding and skimping on the honeymoon

Vedika says “I would spend my entire wedding budget on the honeymoon! That was the most fun part anyway. Married is married no matter how much you spend on the wedding”

Not trying on outfits before-hand

Neha says "My biggest wedding day regret was not trying on the dupatta on my head before my wedding day. I hated it! I wasn't comfortable wearing it — so much that I took it off immediately after the pheras!"

Too many people at the wedding

Vrushali says “Have a intimate destination wedding! It would have been so much more fun than inviting 2000 people to the reception. So regret not doing that.”

Never caring about my happiness

Shruti says "I cared too much about making everybody else happy — parents, grandparents, bridesmaids, siblings... Whose wedding was it anymore? My fiancee— and I should have satisfied ourselves first and foremost."

Not eating at your own wedding

Maria says “I didn't eat at my own wedding! Before the wedding, I kept telling myself 'Don't worry, I'm going to eat, I'll have a plate.' But then you're three-quarters of the way through the reception and you haven't even touched your appetizers yet. Whenever any of my friends comment on how good the food was, I can't even pretend like I know what they’re talking about — I never had a chance to eat anything!"

Buying Jewellery after Lehenga

Sneha says “I wish I bought my jewellery after I picked my lehenga. You cant really exchange jewellery and its going to stay with you for life. It was a complete mis-match and I wished I had been a little more sensible about it.”
