Sangeet Diaries: Fun ways to ensure a supah-fabulous Sangeet!

BY The WMG Bride | 12 Jan, 2015 | 34279 views | 4 min read

It's the funnest event of the wedding , it's going to be spoken about in anecdotes for years to come and its the one day where the kids, the tweens, the young adults and the elderly are going to drink up, shake a leg and star in their own bollywood blockbuster !

#1 Keep Hangover kits:  This is one which will not just ensure a laugh but be super useful as well. Paper bags with Party Smart tablets, bandaid and maybe a lemon for all the friends who have a little bit too much to drink on the sangeet night

#2 Keep whistles on each table for the guests to cheer: We have mentioned this before as well, but its such a cost effective, fun thing to do and creates a huge contest between the boys and girls side to see who cheers for their team the loudest

#3  Chappals : Our favourite idea: keeping chappals or flip flops near the dance floor on the side so that those whose feet start to hurt can change into them. You can get really affordable chappals for 150 Rs each and put just 10 pairs of those !

#4  Keep an innovative photo booth close to the dance floor: Get creative with your photobooth. We love the ones which have vehicles in them- a rickshaw, an auto or even a car provide the perfect backdrop for your photo booth. Get your photographer to get an instant photo guy who prints out the photos and hands them to the guests . Its actually pretty affordable and is a nice touch! #5  Props: Huge sunglasses which light up in the dark, hairbands with pom poms in the end and funny masks- all add to the party feel.

#6  Flashmob: Spend a bit of time with your friends to organise an impromptu flash mob. Flashmobs work best when started off the dance floor on a peppy number. Read our : How to organise a flashmob article here. Another cool way to jazz up your flashmob- have someone like a waiter or something start it. People will be wondering what the hell is happening and why a waiter is starting to dance !

#7  Tug of war: Boys side. Girls side. Match. Pull. FUN ! But make sure the girls don't get too involved- nobody likes their gown-saris getting ruined.

#8 Sangeet Games: We discovered a slew of Sangeet games that couples played in real weddings. From musical tambola to more -Read our Sangeet games article here

#9  The "you cant exit till you have a shot station": Keep a seperate area (sometimes people even do this at an entrance), which could be a large cage or a cordoned off area. If a guest steps into that area, they can't get out till they have a shot ! Dont worry about those who dont drink - put some non alcoholic ones in there as well

#10  Bollywood posters titles: Bollywood buffs? Use photoshop skills to put your faces in movie posters with funny titles to explain your love story. Jab We Met, When 'Sakshi' met 'Karan' , 'Dilliwali girlfriends' are some of the more popular ones currently

#11  Put fun signs around the area: Case in point a sign saying "Alcohol: Because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad"  and more. Read our signage post here

DO Remember:Always carry 1 cd backup and 1 pendrive backup of your songs you never know which one your DJ supports!
