Simple & Elegant Delhi Wedding With The Cutest Love Story

BY Sakshi | 29 Mar, 2023 | 2436 views | 4 min read

Imagine knowing your soulmate ever since you were a kid! Doesn't happen to a lot of us, but reading Ruchika and Ashu's love story will surely make you believe in Serendipity! But what really stood out for us in this pretty Delhi wedding was the beauty in simplicity- everything was minimal yet so effective and pretty! The photos are wholesome and full of love- our favourite kind!

Meet Ruchika and Ashu

My spouse’s mom is Japanese and dad is Indian. Our parents were very close childhood friends and since we were also neighbours, we knew of each other’s existence since the very beginning. Ashu was born and brought up in Japan so we lost touch but he came to India almost 10 years ago and that's when we met each other as adults. He couldn't speak Hindi or English at the time and I didn't speak Japanese so for the longest time we communicated through gestures. But something clicked that even through the language barrier we became close friends and when destiny took me to Japan, we started dating and that's how it all started.

Wedding

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on January 14, 2023. We both are very simple, low key people so we had wanted a very intimate wedding from the start. We even had many of our friends coming from Japan/ other parts of India so we planned it in a way that we actually get to spend time with them and they get to be a part of the wedding in more ways than just being attendees. We tried to keep the wedding as elegant as we could, while still following through the key Indian traditions. I think this will be visible in the pictures too- right from the wedding venue to our clothes, there is an overall simplicity yet it somehow works. :)

Vendor Reviews

Venue: Amaara Farms, Chattarpur, Delhi

We couldnt have picked a better venue even if we tried! My parents were checking out a nearby venue when they just accidentally walked into Amaara farms. They had really liked it and they couldnt contain their excitement so they FaceTimed me from the venue. I couldnt understand the special appeal of Amaara over any other farmhouse but when we finally went to see the venue- it was love at first sight. Not only is the venue- the lawn, glass house and the magnificent banyan tree beautiful, the venue exudes good positive vibes. We are so glad we went with it coz that’s exactly how we felt on our wedding day too!

Makeup Artist: Neha Grover

I had heard about Neha from a friend and right from the first time i saw her work and spoke to her, I knew she was the right mua for my wedding day. It is very important for me to have a comfort level with anyone I’m working with and Neha’s polite and humble nature put me right at ease. She was very professional and also met me before the event despite her busy schedule to discuss my look. Her entire team- Makeup, hair and draping provided A1 services, putting my requests first and not pushing for anything just because “it is traditional”.

Photography: Deepak Kaushik

Similar to my other choices in regards to our wedding, we wanted a humble, down to earth person who can lead the photography for us. I came across Deepak’s profile via Insta ads and i am so thankful that i did, coz Deepak and his team were everything we wanted and more. Both ashu and I are super camera shy people so even through the awkward (“candid”) poses the team kept us at ease. Even the pictures, they captured the happy bride-groom vibe so well- 90% of our pictures have me laughing out loud and that’s exactly what we were hoping for.

Bridal Outfit: Guldavari

My original wedding lehenga which I had ordered 8 months before the wedding, was messed up by some other vendor so I had to look for another one, just 1 month before the wedding. Special mention to Guldavari here because where all other designers had denied me and/ or only offered off-the-rack, Guldavari team went over and above to customize the lehenga and delivered it before the due date. And I'm so glad this happened because the lehenga- the color combination, the simple design went so well with the overall wedding.
