It is customary for brides, especially South Indian brides to deck up in gold jewellery on their wedding day. That has been the case for ages now, and still continues to be so. But here is bride who chose to break all norms, and for a good reason! This Kerala bride refused to get 'gold-plated' on her wedding, and wore simple, eco-friendly coconut jewellery instead.

'Gold-plated'??? Well, tradition says that every inch of a bride's exposed body should be covered in gold, but Elizabeth from Kerala did not want to be that bride. She got her bridal jewellery customised, but from a jeweller who specialises in making pieces of jewellery from coconut shells. She got inspired after spotting coconut shell jewellery in Andamans. And you know what? If no one told you, you couldn't guess that it was made from coconut!

Elizabeth says she's not against gold jewellery, but against the very idea of using gold for a display of one's wealth. She paired the simple jewellery with a mundu and looked like an offbeat yet beautiful bride! Way to make a statement at the wedding right?
