WMG Jab We Met: "I Met My Fiance On Tinder..."

BY The WMG Bride | 05 Feb, 2016 | 1905 views | 6 min read

We got fashion blogger Nelly from The Crisp White Shirt, to dish all the details on her recent engagement! Here goes...

"Everyone who knows me, knows that this was a highly unlikely scenario - being engaged, that is.  But Rishabh, waltzed in and well in true fairytale spirit swept me off my unwavering feet! How did I meet him? I'm going to be honest about how Rishabh and I truly met especially since I’ve never been able to answer this question honestly, because of people’s unsolicited judgement. But here goes nothing…

I met Rishabh on Tinder!

IMG_6057IMG_6098IMG_6102IMG_6364 It's hard to explain to a country of judgmental people about an app like Tinder - people could be on there and still behave like I'm the 'inappropriate character' (this is me being polite). But I've seen friends husbands and boyfriends on there and I'm like cool - I'm nobody to judge.  So it is an awkward thing to speak about - because you're either there to get laid or to find love. Believe me, I wasn't on there for either - truly, I was on there because it was nice to go out on a date in my spare time, be treated like a lady have some fresh conversation, see different people other than the people I hang out with. And many a times I came back with very interesting stories and I met amazing people there - Tinder is really what you make of it and yes there are creepy ones too, but that's what the block option is really on there for :) IMG_8207IMG_8560
First Impressions when they met at a cute lunch place in Colaba: Nel: Hi!, after getting in his car – I then looked at his tablet, comfortably nestled in-between his legs and said, Oh! so that’s the big thing!! – YES – Here comes the queen of inappropriateness but in my defense, I was nervous. Buh..Ho ho ho – that’s not the end – I then proceeded to say after careful observation of him – Oh! you’re small..eeepp..Sometimes I wish I had a filter :p AWKWARD times 2!! Rish: “erm…. Hi! Yes this is the tab that I’ve been using as a phone – and in reply to her – “Oh! you’re small, I just said – erm.. sorry to disappoint :-/” and then we had some awkward silence till I drove to a place I picked out for out first lunch date, till she reaches up to the car stereo, fidgets with it for a bit and…there goes my car stereo ‘kaput’. What attracted them to each other... Nel: It took me a while to notice Rish physically because I was so drawn to his poise and calm. The way he spoke like literally – cause there’s rarely ever any change in tone when he speaks ? which I love. Also, his vibe, like he just lets me be myself – awkward and weird. And the way he fluidly became a part of my friends without actually intruding or fighting for that space! But I do love his straight gait and his broad chest, I love his palms and veiny hands ? And his cute dorky smile really sealed the deal! Rish: I was, and still am smitten by her lips and hair. On our lunch date, though I was really sleepy with working through the previous night, I found it really difficult to not constantly stare at them. She didn’t make it easy either – kept moving her hands through her hair and biting her lower lip. I even go to the extent of telling her ” I see you like me enough to be like this” to which she goes  "oh! someones getting cocky". And that’s the other thing that I love about her – her quirky sense of humor, completely unabashed and zero filters. My kinda woman. Who sealed the deal...
Rishabh made the first move, which is great as I’m almost too shy to boldly blurt out my feelings. And in that very moment as my whole life flashed by, I decided to stop over thinking – So I ‘shhhed’ my brain and said ‘Yes’. I think I was in PJ's lying next to him when he just casually asked me. Rish knew that I'm the kind of person he needs to give space to, so I guess when he popped the question it wasn't intentional and wasn't meant to be so casual. We had a perfect little gathering with our closest friends and family to exchange rings, pragmatic but yet the most sublime moment ever! – Signed and Sealed. But Rish and I clicked and I couldn't ignore I had, and that I got lucky off an app like Tinder - Never even saw myself being engaged anytime soon..But I guess while we're busy making plans, life just happens! Tinder is what you make of it – Be yourself, and if you are looking for a hook-up then don’t expect it to turn into a relationship…Different people are looking for different things on the app, and even if you aren’t looking for a relationship like me and Rishabh, sometimes you come across someone who just fits that tiny little puzzle ever so perfectly." 1c Future plans: The wedding is not any time soon for sure - I really need to put my focus on my work and Rish gets that about me! He knows the pressure I feel and how much I love my work plus, I really want to save up and plan this wedding out the best way I can. Also I wanna give my family and friends enough time to sort out their dates so they can all be present! Those are the plans for the wedding as of now - It will be a white wedding and there will be pheras involved as well since Rish is half-Gujarati and South Indian and I am Catholic and half Parsi so it's a full cocktail fiesta :p" Vendors: Clothing Credits: On Rishabh: Shirt: Zara, Blazer: Zara, Trousers: Zara, Tie: Zara, Belt: ASOS, Shoes: Primark, Watch: Diesel, Ring: Dhanraj Jewellers On Nelly: Dress: Nelly Wadia, Shoes: New Look, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Ring: (On Right) – Isharya, (On Left) Dhanraj Jewellers, Earrings: Isharya Photo Credits: – Vikas Chawda & Rajesh Chetla Nelly Wadia is a blogger at The Crisp White Shirt. The Crisp White Shirt is a utilitarian website which styles everyday people with what’s in their closet, giving readers a wide variety of different styles.
