WMG Reader Queries: Should I Apply My Mehendi Before My Mehendi Event?

Shrada asks "I am a Telugu girl, marrying a Punjabi guy.  My whole family is going to see a Mehendi function for the very first time. Should I apply my mehendi  before the event ? When should I call the photographer given that he is charging for a half day event?  How should I plan the time, so that I can eat the dinner as well?"

WMG: "We would always recommend to apply a part of your Mehendi before hand. Depending on your artist, bridal mehendi can take anywhere between 3-6 hours. You could get your feet done before and get your hands done during the function because they make for prettier photographs. The reason for doing part of it before hand- you don't want to be stuck in a chair when everyone else is enjoying themselves right? Plus it gets pretty exhausting sitting in one way forever.

Regarding photography, call the photographer when one arm is done. This way, he will be around to see you complete the mehendi. If you call him earlier, and he leaves in four hours you may not have shots of your completed mehendi.

If yours is an evening function and the call time is 8. Get part of your mehendi done early morning, and the rest of it started at about 7 pm so that you are done by 9.30, well in time for dinner.
