Long story short: Grade D for Dipthi and Deeply Disappointing So first red flag: she kept talking about how she was happy to do me a huge favor by giving me the honor of a make up trial and she wouldnât have done so if I werenât her friendâs sister. It weirded me out a little bit but because my sister had arranged this in exchange for a fee so it was no âfriendly favorâ, I shrugged it off and decided to judge her based on her skill and not her weird âyou should be honored, plebeâ attitude. Cut to another red flag- her trial did not include hair- so this was Rs 5000 for no hair trials (a huge red flag because hair is a big part of the final look and I was already flashing forward into morning of wedding hair emergencies because I had no idea what to expect). But I decided to go with the flow and not come off as too uptight. The trial itself was about a 3/5- she definitely knew a little about what she was talking about but didnât bother moisturizing/priming anything (even I, a makeup novice knows how integral those steps are to any look), and she made me do my own lips with my own lipstick for some reason. The final look itself was pretty bad- patchy af foundation and the eyes were smudged and undone in an unattractive way. I decided to reserve judgement, took care not to criticize her then and told her Iâd have my final decision after consulting my mom. My sister, whose only fault is being super sweet, buckled to Dipthiâs constant pressuring (âIâll expect a positive answer obviouslyâ âIt had better be a positive answer hahaha ha haâ) and went ahead to pay the deposit. We went home and sure enough both my parents hated it. My dad who is usually very ambivalent about these things (usually like âyou look nice, I donât understand makeupâ) expressed such adorable remorse that his friends would be seeing me like this, and mom was literally speechless with disdain. We decided that this wasnât the right look for me and told Dipthi this in the best terms possible- that not everyone likes every aesthetic and that we were looking for something simpler. She immediately showed an entire festive banner of red flags and started harassing my sister on WhatsApp demanding to know how we could possibly say no to her and how dare I (a very busy bride), had the audacity not to tell her myself. If I had reservations about her before this, this horribly unprofessional and insecure attitude definitely sealed my assessment of her. After days of harassment, I decided to talk to her to give my sister a break. She went on a rant about how she did me a favor (= she gave me a mediocre âmakeoverâ for Rs 5000 of my own money), and how so many people on her social media have said how amazing she is, and how most make up artists in Bangalore wonât even give you a trial. Not sure how true that is (before her Iâd gone to one other MUA who was super nice about not just the trial- free btw- but also about the rejection) but I went to Diva, sorry Dipthi, specifically because she claimed to give me a trial (it didnât matter to me that it was paid) and for my troubles, she was obnoxiously immature and unprofessional. So ladies, hire her if you have no standards, donât think trials (as in, your opinions) are important, and/or if you want a diva at your event who needs constant affirmation that sheâs amazing and flawless, and you 100% think sheâs doing you a huge favor. Otherwise, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere- donât say you werenât warned! Summary Pros: she can do you a HUGE favor of a trial (you also have the honor of doing your own lipstick and hair is not included) for Rs 5000 of your own money, lucky lucky. Cons: - doesnât understand the meaning of the word âTrialâ (it means a âtest of performance and suitability, subject to review and critiqueâ). - patchy foundation - Awkwardly smudged eyes - Zero lip or hair trials (just wing it for your big day you brave bride you, and check out the social media comments if youâre so worried, you scardy cat). - WhatsApp harrasser - Self esteem/restraint of a 3 year old. - Space is beyond cluttered with huge racks of clothing and random stuff. Donât believe the nice clean pics of just the makeup mirrors you see online. FYI, Iâm ok with a bit of mess but this review is in the spirit of full transparency, so Iâm covering all bases for those of us who care about such things. [Note: no other person who has âreviewedâ this place has actually got anything done here- theyâre just friends/fam who are being supportive (nice but useless).] Good luck ladies (and gents) xoxo
