Capturing candid moments of my wedding was a long-held dream for me. But after meeting with a few candid photographers and going through their work, I came away disappointed. Their work simply didn?t compel me to trust them with my wedding. Just as I was willing to let go of the idea of candid photography for my wedding, a friend of mine introduced me to Orange Peel Photography on Facebook. What I saw on the web page blew me away. I was particularly taken by some of Rajdeep?s candids of a South Indian wedding. His shots of the bride?s family were so true-to-life that I felt as though I was present at the wedding. Rajdeep is as genuine and warm as his candids are. His enthusiasm to cover my wedding was reassuring and I somehow never felt I needed to spell out what I wanted. Surpassing my expectations, he captured some of the poignant moments of the wedding ceremony in the most surreal manner. Often, he went above and beyond his call of duty. For instance, he arrived at the wedding venue in the wee hours of the morning to indulge my vanity as I was dolling up for the muhurtam. He also brought in his own nuances and creativity in covering the quintessential elements of South Indian Brahmin wedding like Nichayathartham, Kashi-yatra, Oonjal, and Kanyadhanam. The end result was ethereal. Sometimes, when I flip through the pages of my wedding album, I marvel at how Rajdeep had managed to succintly capture all the important events and people. A wedding is truly a sum of moments and Rajdeep?s work exemplified it.
