We booked for our wedding reception at Royal Pepper Banquets, Wazirpur in the month of February 2020 and the reception was scheduled in April end. We paid a booking amount of Rs. 51,000/- (Fifty One Thousand) against said booking for a gathering of 300 persons. However due to ongoing pandemic of Covid 19 the event could not be held. Thereafter, we called the banquet for postponing the event to a further date as per the availability and situation to which they agreed. We approached the banquet again on 2nd April 2021 to make the booking for wedding anniversary in order to adjust the earlier paid amount. While making the booking for further date Ms. Anuradha (Manager) asked us to submit additional Rs. 35,000/- to confirm the booking and informed us that the earlier paid advance will be adjusted only against the final payment on the day of event. However, due to casualty in family and keeping in mind the ongoing situation of rise in number of cases of Covid in the country we again requested them to postpone the event to another date. To our surprise she refused to do the same and replied saying either the event is happening or not happening and there is no possibility of postponement. She further said that in case you cancel the event the entire amount will be forfeited without any refund. This kind of behavior and malafide intention of doing business by forfeiting the entire amount in such difficult times was never expected. It seems I will need to put in a lot of efforts to recover my hard earned money as the management of banquet is terrible and does not prioritize customer over petty monitory gains.
