We love how the traditional handicrafts of India are getting a new-age reinvention in today's modern times. After Benarasi and Chikankari have got a new lease of life, now it's Phulkari- the traditional thread worm which is getting reinvented and how! Phulkari dupattas have always been around, but now we are spotting more and more Phulkari lehengas, and we think it looks amazing for something like the Mehendi!

Typically Punjabi, Phulkari, which literally translates into ‘flower work’, has a history etched in the culture of Punjab. It is spun from the charkha. This pretty style of embroidery involves darn stitch on the wrong side of cloth with coloured silken thread, and looks amazing.
