Mistakes are inevitable while planning a wedding, so try not to sweat it. Movies are the Holy Grail when it comes to inspiration but they can also teach us a few lessons. Here's a heads-up on 8 of the most common wedding planning mistakes movies have taught us not to make! Read and learn, girls! 1. Bride Wars Having an open dialogue is very necessary. You don’t want to be booked in on the same date as your BFF’s wedding, right? Communicate! 2. Ye Jawani hai Deewani It’s like a girl code. Never invite your ex to the wedding. It complicates things. Period! 3. Sex and the City Carrie let the wedding get bigger than Big. Focus on what matters the most to you. St the end, a label less dress and city hall worked out so beautifully! (But we still drool on those shoes!) 4. 2 States South Indian Girl, North Indian Boy. Sparks will fly! The cultural differences in an inter-state/country marriage are unavoidable. But acceptance is the key. If both parties are willing to come mid-way, kuch baat bann saki hai! 5. Shandaar We are all-in for plus size brides! But you need to accept your body type, however skinny or chubby you are and get fitted accordingly. You don’t want a rip in your blouse at the mandap! 6. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn You can’t plan everything yourself. Delegate and see what a beautiful wonderland Alice created for Bella! You will also be saving all that energy on enjoying your own wedding. 7. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya Your wedding is more than just your lehenga! Yes, we all love the Kareena-style kurtis and Manish Malhotra lehengas, but a wedding should be about the love between you two rather than materialistic things. More money doesn’t always equal better. 8. The Hangover The name of the movie says it all. This movie tells us exactly what should NOT happen one day prior to your wedding. Schedule your bachelor or bachelorette parties well in advance of your big day. 9. 3 Idiots There is no point of going through a marriage if you are not happy. Don’t do things at you wedding just to please people or out of fear that what will people think. Its your wedding, not theirs! 10. 27 Dresses Your BFF, your sister, and your bridesmaids are your support system in the gruelling planning phase. But never make the mistake of treating them as help or slaves. Delegate, don’t order around. Don’t be a brideszilla!   --Apoorva Pagar
