Yes! Apparently it is! We've talked about fruits taking over flowers and pineapples ruling the roost, but painted fruit is apparently the new thang and it sure looks enticing. We are spotting more and more painted fruit being used as décor at weddings both on our gallery and Pinterest, and some of them are really eye-catching! So here's the lowdown and some quirky ideas that make this trend our happy idea of the week! What is this trend? The trend is to paint fresh fruits and change their look completely to convert them into pretty show pieces. They're pretty easy to DIY as well!

Which fruits can be used for this? So as you can see, pears seem to be a favourite when it comes to painted fruits, probably 'coz of the interesting shape and the fact that they last long, but you can get as creative with this as you want! Pineapples look great as well because they are just sooo different! Grapes are popular as well, and imagine how cool sparkly oranges and lemons would look!

How can we use them best? Well, fruits can make for great decor ideas, whether or not they're painted. Painting them ups the ante a lot more. Try to use them as rustic centrepieces, just as table decor and even in corner displays... they can even replace floral arrangements if placed together. You could add them on just about anything and give a new spin!

What are the different ways to decorate fruits? Paint them in metallic, pastel or bright colours, these look so awesome when used in centrepieces or as mere props! Some of them even have partial sparkle or have been completely dipped in it. You can even deck them up as per the table colour theme you select. Add a transparent hue and add sugar on them - to make them look frosty and luscious. There are also these fruits with rhinestones and jewels, but we don't know how we feel about these!
