You might not know it's called the Minimoon but everyone has one friend who has gone on it. Well, in simple words - when you're done with the wedding and before the mehendi on your hand bleeds, you go on a short honeymoon - just a mini 2-3 day trip - to chill out before your big honeymoon to Madrid, Istanbul, Bora Bora...you name it!

Why a Minimoon? Most couples these days are opting for a tiny honeymoon because - they already took a bit of leave for the wedding and your boss will make a face, if you utter the words "looooong honeymoon". Also, you need to settle in a bit and then get out, otherwise you won't enjoy your honeymoon because you will be tired. But when it comes to Minimoons - three days of sleep, spa, food and minimal outdoor activities is all you need. What are the best places to go on a Minimoon from India?
  • Look for places that are all or some of the above:
  • They should have honeymoon-y vibes. Ex:Ko Samui, Thailand. Sun, sea and sand with lots of sea food but not a done-to-death destination
  • They should not break the bank. Ex: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Good location, good places to see and cheap
  • They should have great food and less sightseeing. Ex: Galle in Srilanka is just right for this - excellent food and the beach with minimal places to go. You will not feel bad if you missed a few sight-seeing spots because you are resting
  • They should be closer to home. Ex: Thimpu, Bhutan because you won't waste time flying in and out - you are at the destination in 2-3 hours
  • Other interesting places are: Malaysia + Singapore + Bali + Nepal +Vietnam
Best resources for a good Minimoon? Check out apps like: Guesthouser which gives you unconventional staying places. Airbnb for some great budget as well as home options. Advice: Tripadvisor of course. But you can also check out: Kunzum for some good ideas.
