Aditi & Tejas's wedding celebrations were minimalist and full of love. Aditi wore a gorgeous blush pink lehenga while Tejas complimented her perfectly in a sky blue safa. Shot by Camera Waale Baraati , this Delhi wedding was a perfect mix of traditional rituals and contemporary fashion.
Meet Aditi & Tejas
Aditi & Tejas met in high school in Delhi. They were friends through that time and only started dating when they graduated from school. The rest is well, pretty historical, now that that time was 13 years ago! During that decade, they've wandered across the world, together and on their own, trooped through the maddening annals of long distance to finally resettle (at least for the time being) in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their wedding was a testament to where their journeying began. They celebrated their coming together in a ceremony held at a venue right across from their high school, where they first met.
From The Couple:
Aditi & Tejas had a winter wedding. They anticipated nice, crisp weather during that time and were eager to make the most of the hours during the day. The wedding ceremony was held in a sprawling lawn decorated in pastel hues. The cue for attire for guests was also to embrace Indian and western formals in hues of lime green, yellow, lavender and sea blue. After the pheras, everyone's sunglasses and eyewear came out, which added an entire new dimension to the gathering.
Venue: Air Force Auditorium
The venue is spacious and sprawling. There is an incredibly well-positioned small bridge inside the venue that makes for a natural aisle for the bride to walk on before she hits the mandap. The green rooms inside the auditorium make for an ideal and quiet location for brides to get dressed and their make up done. As kids who grew up with their fathers serving in the Indian Air Force, and so many of their school functions, as well as recreational outings like New Years Eve parties held at the Air Force Auditorium, the couple could not have asked for a more nostalgic and memorable venue!
Makeup Artists: Sangeet - Simran Kalra Yashpal; Wedding - Tejasvini Chander
Aditi's sangeet makeup was done by Simran Kalra Yashpal. That night, Aditi was wearing a bright red lehenga with a golden blouse and wanted a heavy, yet craftily done dose of makeup. Simran's palette was on point and Aditi was pleased that when she looked in the mirror, she still looked like herself. Simran was not only professional, but also kind and engaging in dialogue which made the service smooth and effortless. On the wedding day, Aditi's hair and makeup were done by Tejasvini Chander. Tejasvini's emphasis and USP on executing fresh, flawless and clean makeup is exactly what one can expect when they work with her. She is a master of her craft indeed.
Planning & Decor: Plan with Nonya
Nonya is a dynamite and her aesthetic sensibilities and creative approaches are unmatched. She is not only talented but also interested in her clients' story. Her eye for detail and her calm supervision left the couple in awe of her management and operational skills. Nonya was tasked with decorating Aditi's parents apartment in south Delhi for the Mehendi and Dhol night. Genda phools adorned their living room and a fun pop-up bar with customized cocktails made it to their balcony. The house looks decked up! Nonya was also instrumental in executing printed pamphlets with the lyrics (bol) of traditional Punjabi songs during the drum (dhol) night, a unique addition that guests greatly appreciated. Not many wedding and event planners understand and fully comprehend the need for sustainable and eco-friendly decor. That Nonya and her enterprise is mindful of that and follow sustainability as a business value, was such a breath of fresh air.
Photographer: Camera Waale Baraati
The team was led by journalist and photographer Tanushree Bhasin. Tanushree's team was professional on-the-job. Not even for a second did the photographers feel intrusive. On the contrary, they felt like friends and family. Tejas' family was particularly charmed by the team when they arrived at their house in Dwarka early in the morning to capture the sehra-bandhi ceremony before the baraat left for the wedding venue. Aditi &Tejas appreciated their patience and camaraderie throughout the weeklong celebrations.
