Intimate Kerala Wedding With The Filmyiest Love Story

BY Aakanksha | 16 Mar, 2022 | 1667 views | 3 min read

"Once upon a time, on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a girl named Sagarikaa, met a boy named Rohit and it was like magic!" Okay, it may not have happened like that but Sagarikaa and Rohit did meet during the shoot of a movie, on the gorgeous islands of Lakshwadeep. Sagarikaa is a costume designer in Bollywood while Rohit is a director their love story began, surrounded by the azure waters of the Arabian Sea and they began the newest chapter in it by tying the knot near the backwaters of Alleppey. Sagarikaa shined in a quintessential red bridal saree with a peach dupatta and Rohit coordinated with her in a peach safa.

Meet Sagarikaa & Rohit

I am a Bollywood costume designer. He is an associate director. We fell in love with the sets of a Malayalam film in Lakshadweep. And the rest, as they say, is history!

The Wedding

The Reception

From The Bride:

Our wedding was an intimate affair with close friends and family. It was a two states wedding, his family being from Rajasthan and mine from Kerala. We got married along the backwaters of Alleppey, Kerala. In Malayali customs, the weddings are predominantly without a priest,  and as I was a Malayali I wanted it exactly like that and that's how we tied the knot. We walked around the lamp, our hands linked, praying to our Gods and nature to bless us abundantly. All our North Indian family were in Mundu and dancing in the Baraat while the groom was welcomed with lamps & flowers to the tune of Nadaswaram. We also chose against having a Bidaai and instead both of us were welcomed with love and happiness by our families into our new lives, together. The sangeet ceremony had a Rajasthani theme complete with a curated menu of dal baati churma and ghevar specially flown in from Jaipur. Our Reception was a memorable event with both cultures coming together to make merry and dance until dawn the next day.

Vendor Reviews:

Planners: Unicorn Wedding Planners
Really happy to have hired them. The team is great and they ensured everything ran smooth. Aesthetically their design sense is fantastic! My decor was simple and tasteful, exactly as per my request.

Venue: Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere
This gem of a hotel in Alleppey was the best decision we made. Since Kerala was under strict lockdown the hotel was shut for a very long time  Despite all that, they made sure it was well kept and ready to host a wedding. Shoutout to the staff who were so nice to work with and made it all possible. They even gave us the kitchen so we could get special Rajasthani food cooked with the help of their chef.

Makeup Artist: Karan Chugh
A very talented artist. He is especially good with dusky skin tones. I was very happy with all my three looks.
