My BFF's and I Got Decked Out In Banarasi Lehengas At Ekaya!

BY Latha Sunadh | 16 Dec, 2016 | 13735 views | 3 min read

Shopping with your besties might just be the best thing about wedding shopping and that means, non-stop giggling, coffee, exclaiming how hot everyone looks and having a gala time. Ekaya, a contemporary bespoke store presenting the finest works of Banarasi art from the Indian craftsman’s repertoire, decided to take our newest bride-to-be Ananya out for a shopping spin at their store with her friends. The amazing thing about Banarasi silks that Ekaya is known for is that they are new-age, yet timeless. Bride Ananya chose a beautiful handwoven and hand-embroidered gold and red banarsi lehenga. The exquisite piece is from their new line Innaayat by Harmeet Bajaj for Ekaya Leela.

The bridesmaids wore handwoven and embroidered tissue-georgette lehengas from the collection in shades of yellow-gold (loving the sweet pink dupatta and the kurta on a Banarasi!!). The classic colour combination between the bride and her squad are major wedding squad goals.

Photographer, Karan Sidhu Photography★ 5  made sure he took beautiful pictures of the girls running around in wedding finery and pretty jewels from NimaiBride in Vogue★ 4.6  picked out the perfect makeup for the girls and each one of them looked amazing.

From The Bride-to-be, Ananya: "I have always been a big fan of Indian textiles and handloom work, so I knew traditional weaves like Kanjeevaram, Banarasi, Patola ikat would form a big part of my trousseau.Since my father-in-law’s family is from Uttar Pradesh, Ekaya Banaras was the perfect match for me with their youthful spirit and soulful weaves. Working with the Ekaya Banaras team and Ekaya Leela's creative director Harmeet Bajaj was an awesome experience.  My bridesmaids, Anushka Sharma Kochhar and Tanvi Ajmani were also decked up in styles that were unique to their personalities. The wed-me-good and the Nimai team picked out perfect jewelry to go with the collection. The day was charged with creative energy and we were all in sync with what we wanted the final outcome to look like," says Ananya.  "Maya Dang and her team were very supportive and patient, two very important traits to look for in the team surrounding you on your big day! They gave me a subtle smokey eye and delicate face as I wanted to ensure I still looked natural and not "caked". Karan Singh Sidhu was a dream to work with, and our wavelengths matched perfectly. The shoot was fun with classic bridal shots in a lot of unexpected spots - auto rickshaws, dusty gardens, and a barren store; The girls and I had a blast through the day! Everything came together seamlessly for me and I am so happy that I got to share this beautiful day with two of my best friends and soon-to-be bridesmaids! Thank you to everyone for fussing and fawning over me!" says Ananya.
