On Day 3: Varun Bahl's Luxe Wedding Florals + Monisha Jaising's Hipster Bride!

BY The WMG Bride | 01 Aug, 2015 | 5229 views | 2 min read

What makes for great couture - a keen sense of style and anticipating the bride's needs. Both happened  over at ACIW 2015 this year with Varun Bahl and Monisha Jaising . While Monisha went sophisticated sexy with her "Sailing bride" collection,  Varun Bahl used florals in generous amounts for his couture collection.

Monisha Jaising has been raising a storm in the bridal world lately. With her luxe bridal services and her interesting new website. There is a certain style associated with her - it's luxe, it's easy and it's extremely glamorous. The "Sailing Bride", her collection this time came with it's own asymmetrical shapes and interesting luxe details. We loved the draped sari in pastel hues with an exuberant blouse and the lehengas that looked like they took off where the floral gowns stopped. For us,  the cocktail dresses were the winner -  from sheer black gowns, to gorgeous structured red silhouettes- they were glamorous and chic. Kriti Sanon's act in the end with a tank top worn over a lehenga and converse sneakers and tattoos stole the show - the collection went from luxe to refined bohemian in minutes. Caution: Not for the faint-hearted!

Varun Bahl's Easy Luxe Florals

Win and win. His new collection is all about florals on a sophisticated scale. The show started with a poem recital by Randeep Hooda - and went to create a buzz. The collection had pretty lehengas in floral embroidery work - conventional silhouettes and delicate dupattas.  His signature work of french knots and thread along with the colour palette which went from ivory, pale pink, pale blue, old rose and onto  bold hues like black, burgundy, deep maroon and gold.  Sort of like an Indian version of a bridal gown we think.
