Honeymoon budgets are always all over the place. Some couples like going full main character energy with overwater villas and bucket list trips, some want to do that perfectly planned mid-luxe escape, and some just want to switch off somewhere quiet without thinking about money again after the wedding. So, we got real brides to spill everything. Where they went, what they actually spent, what was worth it, and the little hacks that made a difference. Because if you’re planning one, you deserve the full picture, not just the aesthetic!

Australia felt like a big trip to plan right after the wedding, but it turned out to be one of the most memorable ones. We spent around 6 lakhs for 9 nights covering Sydney and Gold Coast. Flights were about 2.5 lakhs, stays came up to ₹1.5 lakhs, and the rest went into experiences and food. From beach days to city exploring, it felt very well-rounded. We applied for visas and booked flights early, which helped us avoid peak pricing closer to the date.

Safari had always felt like something we would do much later, but we just went for it and picked Kenya. We spent about ₹4.5 lakhs for 6 nights, with ₹1.4 lakhs on flights, ₹2.2 lakhs on safari lodges, and the rest on park fees and meals. Waking up to views of the savannah and spotting wildlife up close felt unreal. We booked a package that included game drives and meals, which actually worked out better than planning everything individually.

I’ll be honest, Bali surprised me. I thought it would feel like a typical touristy trip, but it turned out to be one of the most indulgent experiences. We spent around ₹2.2 lakhs for a week’s stay, with ₹70,000 on flights and about ₹1 lakh on private villas. Every day started with floating breakfasts and ended with either a spa or a beach club. It felt luxe without the pressure of spending too much. We split our stay between a slightly more affordable villa and a luxe one for the last two nights, which helped balance the cost without missing out on the experience.

We saved up for this one! Europe had always been on my list, so we planned an 8-night trip across Italy and Switzerland and spent around 5 lakhs. Flights were 1.5 lakhs, boutique stays came up to 2 lakhs, and we spent around 1 lakh on trains, food and experiences. I loved how the trip felt both scenic and romantic, from quiet lakes in Switzerland to wandering through Italian streets. It never felt rushed! We booked our flights almost 5 months in advance and used train passes instead of last-minute tickets, which made a noticeable difference to the overall cost. It felt very us.

We chose the Maldives for our honeymoon and decided to go all in. We spent about 6.5 lakhs for 5 nights. What we did was book the all-inclusive stay - so seaplane, food, water villa, everything included. No thinking required. We sure could have done more nights at a different destination with this budget, but I just did not want to think after the wedding. Food and drinks are expensive in Maldives but the all-inclusive setup takes all that away. Waking up to the ocean every day, having our own private pool and ending evenings with sunset dinners made it feel surreal.

I wanted something tropical but less crowded than the usual spots, so we picked the Phi Phi and Koh Yao islands near Thailand. We spent about 1.8 lakhs for 6 nights. Flights were 60k, boutique island stays came up to 70k, and the rest went into transfers, food, and activities. It felt far more private and untouched compared to the more popular places. Staying on a quieter island and doing day trips helped us balance both experience and cost.

We wanted something budget-friendly and scenic without too much planning, so we chose Sri Lanka. Our 5-night trip cost about a lakh in total. Flights were ₹30,000, stays were around ₹40,000, and the rest went into transport and food. From tea plantations to the coast, it felt very diverse for a short trip. Hiring a local driver for the entire trip made logistics easier and more cost-effective than booking everything separately.
