Colour code
Look for colours that signify classic simplicity and elegance - think pink, peach, nude hues and lilacs. They look luxurious and effortless. Plus, you look like a fairy no matter what silhouette you choose. Grey and lilac are two new hues we are lusting after!
Pick fabrics that are luxe
Anything shiny, anything satin or velvet ( to a large extent) is seen as a bit tacky. Our picks: Chiffon, Georgette, Pastel Benarasi - all make you look elegant and posh.
Embroider/work in strategic places
When you are choosing the work on your lehenga, whether it's zardosi or dabka, just don't it all over - pick the blouse arms or the border or on top or just the bottom. It's about keeping things planned and not random - use embroideries only when needed.
Balance in jewellery layering
This is where most brides go crazy wrong. They slather on everything and look like a Christmas tree. Think for a minute - do you want huge earrings? Or a big neckpiece? Use one big statement piece and keep the balance good. If you are adding extras - a haathphool or a big nosering, factor that in. Restraint in jewellery is a good thing.

Fabrics like net skirts can tend to look crumpled and tacky unless it's made with very fine soft quality net . Its better to stick with a heavy, classic fabric like a rich brocade, silk .

When it comes to borders of your lehenga or your accessories, it's important to add metallic accents nad not go fully metallic. A dupatta with neat gold work or a watch with just gold hints.

We love variety but that doesn't mean that you keep adding a birdcage and a chariot design and a thick zardosi border like Sabya all in one place. Pick a design that fits you and use it thoughtfully throughout the lehenga.
Invest in quality stitching
We hate: threads hanging. Smaller things like a non-matchy thread on the blouse or a latkan that's blah - all these show bad work. So you must insist with your designer/tailor about these. Quality stitching is about using the right threads, the right zips and buttons.
Fit is best
You can buy a lehenga off the rack but a week before your day, pls make sure you have it fitted to you. Bad fits are the reason brides look unruly.
Rose Gold is better than silver or gold
When it comes to fancy jewellery or accessories - pick rose gold over silver/gold because it looks shiny without going OTT.
Nude shoes to add depth
Want to look taller and classier - invest in a nude block heel. It doesn't cut your look and add too much to it. It makes your entire look stand out without interrupting it.
Monotone is better than an array of colours

So most high-end lehengas too come with dated / done-to-death latkans - why not make it fun and create your own luxe latkan. With good beads and an insightful look. It might seem like a small detail but it adds glamour!
Pay attention to borders
You could add a small detail on your dupatta to make it more fun and luxurious - especially if it's a plain dupatta. Add a sweet Benarasi border or a floral border on the inside, so it looks super elegant.
