Our experience with Discovery Events, led by Shailesh Gandhi and his son Yash, was deeply disappointing and far below the standard expected of a professional wedding planning team. What we encountered was a pattern of mismanagement, lack of accountability, and a noticeable absence of leadership throughout the planning process and during the wedding itself. Discovery events was chosen over others because we felt a two person team would be better but the father son duo coordination was minimal and we were left unsure of who would be present at the final event. The uncertainty was exactly what we did not want and that was what we had to contend with. A complete lack of care or hand holding for the client was shocking To begin with, the Discovery team was not visibly present at the wedding, leaving the family to handle responsibilities that should have been fully managed by an external planning agency. Basic tasks such as vendor coordination, guest logistics, and timeline management routinely fell back on us. In the months leading up to the event, communication issues were consistent. - The RSVP team often went silent for days, resulting in multiple guest complaints. - Their hospitality team failed to allocate a room to a guest, and we had to repeatedly correct the guest list ourselves. - We found ourselves following up on stationery printing, vendor cabs, and essential timelines, with little to no proactive communication from Discovery. We had to chase the team for updates with almost no response. - Repeated pushback on ideas — including sound and lighting, the rickshaw, cocktail décor, and more — meant the final execution did not match the family’s vision, and in several cases, we had to find our own solutions. During the wedding: - Rooming information was not communicated on time, forcing the family to work directly with hotel staff on Day 0 to assign rooms. - Important hotel traditions and customs were never conveyed to us, which created avoidable confusion even though Discovery Events claims to host 10 weddings a year at this property. - Bridal mehndi was poorly scheduled and ended up taking places in a dark dingy room without any alternatives or guidance offered. - The Sangeet entry was mishandled, and the sound check appeared poorly coordinated, raising concerns especially because an external vendor was used. - Photographers were managed by the family instead of Discovery. Mayank repeatedly discussed timings directly with the bride and groom rather than through a Discovery representative. - Materials required for the Pooja, despite being communicated well in advance, did not arrive on time. - The Discovery Events team would be escalating issues like vendor arrival delays or room readiness directly to the bride and groom instead of taking the matter into their own hands. A recurring concern was the lack of experienced personnel. The onsite team primarily consisted of very young staff (around 23–25 years old) with limited experience, and decisions requiring judgment or senior oversight were frequently escalated to the family or even the bride and groom themselves. This is the opposite of what a planning team should be doing during a wedding. Additionally, whenever elements were arranged independently — such as bangles, a rickshaw, the DJ truck, or postcards — there was a noticeable decline in Discovery’s involvement and support. There was also no transparency in the actual cost of elements, which raised concerns about markups and unclear pricing. A particularly concerning moment was when a team member stated that “the remainder will be deducted from my paycheck,” following an instruction from Shailesh. This was highly unprofessional and inappropriate in the context of wedding planning. By the end of the process, it was evident that there was no senior, qualified individual from Discovery Events overseeing the event, and most of the execution felt ad hoc, reactive, and poorly coordinated. This was confirmed during a post wedding debrief with Yash, when he stated "I don't know why you think we didn't care, we aren't even making any money from this wedding. Another wedding that we were working on went off without a problem and they spent 1.5Cr over budget." Overall, our experience with Discovery Events did not reflect the professionalism, reliability, or expertise that one expects from a wedding planning company. They don't have a transparent pay structure, and it is evident they try to make money off every transaction they're a part of. We hope this review helps future families make informed decisions and encourages the company to address the significant gaps in their service standards.

The Discovery Events team was incredible from the start. Even before we officially brought them on board, Yash Gandhi was offering helpful guidance—which instantly told us he was the one to help bring our vision to life. He just got it. I shared a vision doc and mood board with him, and it felt like speaking to someone who truly spoke my language. The team was proactive, hands-on, and came in at the perfect time to manage the chaos—multiple vendors, scattered conversations, pending details—and pulled it all together seamlessly. Thanks to them, we could actually enjoy our three-day wedding stress-free. They felt more like family than vendors. From recording my walk during venue recces, planning menus together (special shoutout to Gyanjee—the food was unforgettable!), to hopping on a long train journey with us from Mumbai to Sawai Madhopur, they were part of it all. One of the most touching moments? When my best friend Sanya couldn’t make it from Pakistan, Yash and team surprised me by playing her recorded speech at the reception. In a space that often feels transactional, Discovery made everything feel deeply personal—and that made all the difference, Source
