Our Mehendi marked the intimate beginning of our wedding celebrations, with close friends and family joining in to kickstart the festivities. Hosted at the charming Chinese Al Fresco in Taj Swarna Amritsar, the cold and lovely weather provided a perfect escape from the heat of Dubai and Mumbai. The decor theme, Miracle Garden, showcased shades of orange, a nod to my name, Karishma. The event featured cute garden spaces with cabanas where guests applied mehendi and enjoyed lunch.
Unplugged Night/ Welcome Dinner: Written in the Stars
Our Welcome Dinner was a boho-themed affair with vibes that set the tone for a memorable celebration. We welcomed a band from Himachal Pradesh, who drove all the way to be part of our special night. Guests enjoyed a night filled with singing and dancing, culminating with Rohit and me lighting a Chinese lantern inspired by our wedding invite, creating a magical end to day 0.
Brunch: The Mani-fest
The day after, we hosted a brunch adorned with evil eye decor elements, reflecting our shared belief in their significance. The brunch featured 10 live stations curated with love by yours truly, offering a unique culinary experience. Emcee Aayush and DJ Nitesh kept the atmosphere lively with games and Bollywood tunes. To add a touch of relaxation, a foot massage station was a hit with our guests, concluding the event with a small flower shower haldi.
Sangeet: KaRo got Lit
Our Sangeet night lived up to its theme – it was lit! The bride and groom's entrance with a flashmob set the stage for a night of dance and celebration. Friends and family participated in a skit, with Karishma's best friend and Rohit's best friend playing them. Choreographed performances, emotional videos, and a ring ceremony added to the overwhelming love and joy of the night.
Wedding: Rab Rakha
On the auspicious day of Guru Nanak Jayanti, rain added a touch of magic to our outdoor pheras. Despite initial anxiety, we embraced the moment, and the wedding unfolded like a Bollywood movie. The groom danced in with his crew, eagerly anticipating the bride's grand entrance. Holding my father's hand and a floral chaddar, I walked down the aisle, surprising my dad with a heartfelt quote on the walkway. As he teared up while holding my hand, Rohit was equally moved, watching his beautiful bride enter. In that emotional moment, we both could only think - we made it. Despite everything, we made it, and this journey was just the beginning of our beautiful forever.
After Party: The Afterglow
Opting for a non-traditional approach, we chose to host an after party instead of a typical reception, encouraging our guests to dress comfortably. Attire ranged from chic to sneakers, setting the stage for a relaxed atmosphere. Karishma curated Rohit's jacket with the endearing phrase 'Munda Sona' on the back, but Rohit had a surprise in store. During our entry, he unzipped the jacket, revealing a t-shirt adorned with my picture—a sweet and unexpected gesture.

My experience with Reetu for my mehendi in Amritsar was unfortunately not as I had hoped. While she came recommended, I found the service lacking in several aspects. Firstly, during the session, I felt that Reetu was not proactive in providing suggestions or guidance, which resulted in a slow and somewhat directionless process. The application of the mehendi took an unexpectedly long time, spanning over seven hours, which was not only inconvenient but also left me feeling dissatisfied with the overall experience. Additionally, I was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail in Reetu's work; the final result did not meet my expectations in terms of intricacy and precision. Furthermore, there was a discrepancy regarding the agreed-upon price for the service. Despite reaching an agreement on the cost months before the wedding, I was asked for additional money on the day of the appointment, which added unnecessary stress and frustration to an already underwhelming experience. Overall, while Reetu may have potential, my personal experience left much to be desired. I would advise future clients to clarify all terms and expectations upfront to avoid any misunderstandings or discrepancies.
