Introducing WedSafe - To Make Weddings Safer!

BY Garvita | 30 Apr, 2021 | 756 views | 4 min read

To say Coronavirus has brought normal life to a halt is an understatement, more so for our to-be married couples! And just when we thought that life is slowly resuming back to a 'safer' normal, we got hit with the second wave of the pandemic.

Considering how stress-ridden this phase is, we urged our brides-to-be to postpone their weddings to the latter half of 2021.

Keeping the 'safety first' motto in mind, it's time to downsize the guestlist and #WedSafe.  Read on to know important details to plan a safe wedding -

What is wedsafe?

In an initiative to address the customer needs, WedMeGood launched a WMG Hygiene program - 'WedSafe' in 2020, a unique way for our vendors to showcase the safety standards and preparedness they have in place for the tough times.

The guidelines and procedures are in accordance with the WHO guidebook and various other health organizations worldwide. It includes stringent recurring audits to maintain quality standards. All eligible vendors were given a WedSafe badge on their profile, for you to identify them easily.

These initiatives vary across categories and the measurable initiatives taken by the vendors are showcased on their profile.

How to find safety compliant vendors?

The safety compliant vendors will have a WedSafe badge on their profile, for you to identify them easily. Here's how the WedSafe badge will look on their WMG profile:

I'm having an intimate wedding, how do I do this?

Planning an intimate wedding requires as much time and attention as a big fat one! The only difference is that now you have to cater to a downsized guestlist. Dont forget to read about the wedding guest limit in India!

What if my wedding gets postponed?

We understand how postponing your wedding feels, but with major health concerns, it is better to either switch to an at-home ceremony (with just your fam around) or postpone it to later this year.

In case your wedding gets postponed, see it as an opportunity to spend extra time with your family! Shortlist vendors who are following stringent hygiene practices to ensure the safety of your family and guests. Bookmark fresh and new wedding ideas and inspiration. Take your time, keep calm, as your turn to walk down the aisle will come soon

I am not sure about the capacity? Can I still book vendors?

Do keep a regular check on the latest government COVID wedding guidelines for 2021. It ought to be a downsized guestlist (<25 people) till the situation gets better.

Start by making a list of vendors that you'd want to book, to help in planning your dream wedding! Eventually indulge in a conversation to check if their price quote fits your budget. This way you would be ready with the major groundwork, and book the same as soon as you lock the new wedding date.

I am having pre-wedding functions at home? What should I look for?

Start looking out for vendors offering intimate wedding home decor services, because DIY ain't that easy (as you'd still need assistance from a professional). Next, plan a menu for the celebrations, and keeping the limited guest list in mind, you can book a small-scale home catering vendor, at affordable prices. Please ensure that they have a WHO standardized kitchen and staff, in order to allow you to indulge in their services with no stress!

With this, you'll cover important wedding categories and eventually focus on outfits, MUA et al.

I am planning a 50 people wedding, what should I consider?

For now, we'll suggest you shift to a later date as this is definitely not the right time to host a wedding. In fact, you should prioritize everyone's safety and get your 'safe' wedding planning sorted.

And once the situation gets better (hopefully soon), consider the following aspects -

  • Venue - you want to host it at your home or book a vendor?
  • Make a downsized guest list of the closest people you want around
  • Prioritise the health and safety of everyone who will be a part of the celebrations (with registrations for 18+ now open, we expect to see the largest vaccination drive soon
  • Shortlist other vendors like - photographers, makeup artists, and more. Contact them, initiate a conversation, and book them once everything falls into place!
  • Planning a wedding again, amidst the second wave, can be really stressful, so maybe loop in a wedding planner?
  • Shop your bridal outfits virtually
  • Keep calm because your dream intimate wedding celebration will happen soon!

A wedding now? Or later? What should I consider?

Though as per the latest Govt. guidelines, intimate weddings are allowed ( they differ from one state to the other), we'll suggest you put the 'I dos' on hold for now. With so much happening in the nation, we really don't feel it is the right time to host a wedding. Not only for your safety but for the panic and gloom that tags along.
