ANYONE THINKING OF BOOKING OCCASIONS ERA EVENT MANAGEMENT SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING SO. My wife had contacted Mr. Ronak Baid from Occasions Era in Jan 2020 for event management of my wedding that was held in Jaipur in Dec 2020 in KK Royal Hotel for which the hotel bookings were already done in Jan 2020. We had received reference of Occasions Era from multiple event management aggregator websites and decided to get in touch with Ronak for our wedding. We had a good conversation with Mr Baid. He at the time shared multiple designs and plans for my wedding functions and confirmed that he was well versed with the property and had done functions there in the past. After some back and forth on the ideas(which we were happy with and shortlisted), he asked for an advance of Rs. 20,000 to book the dates(10th, 11th, 12th Dec 2020) which at the time were very heavy wedding dates and required urgent advance booking as per them. After receiving the amount of Rs. 20,000 as on Jan 2020, Ronak assured that booking had been done. Then the pandemic hit. We were uncertain of the December wedding which we had originally booked for 250 guests (which came down to a few 30-40 guest only towards the end). We were unsure at the time of how we would be proceeding but were sure of the dates of the wedding. Towards April, we got in touch with Mr. Ronak to confirm the bookings and the contingency plans in case Covid caused further problems. However, we received no reply to any phone calls and messages which my wife sent to him. We decided to let a few months pass since we felt it was a time when the 1st wave was hitting our country and gave Occasions Era and Ronak the benefit of the doubt. In July, August and September, as the wedding dates were around the corner and the first wave had subsided, we decided that we would hold a small function without change in dates or the wedding venue. We tried to communicate with Ronak and Occasions era but they decided to ignore our calls and messages. Since we had not heard back from Occasions Era even after calling and messaging continuously, we had to look for alternatives and decided to ask for a refund since there was no progress or response from their team. We continued to try and contacting Ronak from different numbers. Ronak then decided to answer our call once after we complained about his unprofessional attitude. On this call Ronak mentioned that they had decided to cancel our booking without any prior intimation and mentioned that Occasions Era is a part of an organization of event managers based in and around Rajastan and the organization had a falling out with the management at the hotel at which we had our booking. We were upset angry about the lack of communication from the team, but had to move on to other options since time was short till my wedding. Ronak during the call also mentioned that since the cancellation was from their end without any intimation, the 100% amount would be refunded. After continuous follow ups on the refund, we finally received Rs. 10,000 into our account which was only 50% of the amount on 20th September 2020 and told us that the balance will be paid in a couple of weeks after that. We waited patiently and decided to contact Ronak from Occassions Era again in October but again there was no response. A call from another number was made and that was answered by him and he said again that payment would be transferred in a few days. After which he decided to not answer any calls from any of the previous numbers that I had called from (including my father's number, mother's phone number, my wife's number or mine) It is highly ridiculous how Ronak has decided to continuously avoid refunding the amount to us after repeated attempts of trying to contact them. I feel it is highly unprofessional on their part to continue to avoid a client who has made bookings with you. I do understand that IF we were the ones canceling the booking, we should be charged a cancellation fee (which was not mentioned at all by Ronak). But, Occasions Era decided to cancel our booking without any intimation to us and decided to avoid calls for a refund of the advance we had paid. I again tried to contact Ronak after the wedding (thinking maybe last year was difficult for businesses) and thought maybe I could get a refund of this small amount. To no surprise, there was no response from Ronak. I understand that Rs.10,000 with regards to a wedding is a very small amount, but this unprofessionalism and highly improper attitude of Occasions Era surprised us since they have a very good rating on event planner websites. Attached is my personal phone's call log to him just for your reference. These do not include the messages I sent and the calls made from 3 other phones.
