130-Year-Old Jewels & Hyper-Personalised Details - This Udaipur Wedding Slayed In Style!

BY Sakshi | 21 Jul, 2025 | 1474 views | 10 min read

Okay but who has their wedding venue picked out as a kid and actually makes it happen? Sahiba did, and it was iconic! As a little girl, she ran through the grand halls of this luxury property wide-eyed, vowing she’d get married there someday. Flash forward to 2025, and she did exactly that- marrying Anirudh (a coffee connoisseur/doctor/fashion-loving sweetheart) under the same majestic domes, in a celebration that was part fairytale, part family heirloom, and fully unforgettable!!! From her Manish Malhotra lehenga embroidered with her favorite Anand Karaj mantra and Ani’s name (plus the names of everyone who raised her!) to 130-year-old heirloom jewellery passed down through four generations, this was no ordinary bridal look, it was a legacy in motion. And the decor? Think understated opulence meets hyper-personalized storytelling- Diptyque candles for favours, custom-designed playing cards with their fam as royals, and a bookshelf-inspired seating chart with handwritten notes inside mini “books.” Basically, Sahiba and Ani didn’t just plan a wedding, they co-authored a love story with some seriously elevated vibes!

Meet Anirudh and Sahiba

Some love stories start differently, some the old-fashioned way, while this one began on a dating app. Thanks to Sabi’s best friend who swiped right on Ani, their conversation started and never really stopped. Neither remembers what they talked about, only that it was effortless and fun. Distance made things tricky while Ani was between Chicago and Mount Vernon, Sabi moved between New York and wherever life took her. But fate had its plans. A month later, they found themselves in Washington, D.C., sharing margaritas on a rainy August evening. Life pulled them apart again until, months later, they met again in Delhi, dancing the night away at Dear Donna. The night ended with a spontaneous auto ride, and somewhere between the cool Delhi breeze and the laughter, this is where their love story truly began.

The proposal was a story to remember. After months of searching for the perfect ring, Ani planned a surprise at Central Park’s Ladies Pavilion. Under the pretense of a birthday lunch for her father, Sabi arrived unsuspectingly until Ani tapped her shoulder and led her to a pavilion covered in rose petals. As he got down on one knee, the winter chill was forgotten. The perfect moment was followed by a dreamy getaway to Glenmere Mansion, one Sabi had always wished to visit. And just like that, their story was sealed with a ‘yes.’

Welcome Dinner

Hosted on the evening of the 12th, this event featured an intimate setting with personalized touches, setting the tone for the celebrations.

Sangeet

It was a high-energy night with performances, dazzling decor, and music that reflected the couple’s love for dance and celebration.

Haldi & Mehendi Ceremony

Themed ‘Jaago’ and Pyaar in the Pind, this event was awash in shades of orange, pink, and yellow. Since it fell on Holi, a fun floral Holi function brightened up the celebration. The event also featured Manga-style artwork alongside classic Punjabi Pind aesthetics, blending tradition with a playful modern twist.

Sufi Night

Owing to Ani and Sabi’s fathers’ love for Sufi music, the couple hosted a Sufi Night where mellifluous tunes and classical notes filled the air.

Wedding Ceremonies

A breathtaking fusion of cultural traditions, set against an elegant backdrop, the wedding honored both Sikh and Hindu customs. The couple had a Jaimala before their Anand Karaj, followed by a short Vidaai and Pooja from Ani’s mother’s side. While their personalities are bold and “filmy,” they chose to keep their vows a deeply personal moment—just the two of them, sharing a peaceful sunrise together before the celebrations began.

Reception

A luxurious affair, the wedding featured “Sheesh Mahal” themed decor in ivory and gold hues with pops of pink. True to their lively spirits, the celebration included custom cocktails that reflected their journey. Drinks like “The Lazy Girl” and “Doctor’s Orders” added a personal touch, while the reception menu showcased city-inspired cocktails such as “The Big Apple” (New York) and “The 6ix” (Toronto)—a nod to Drake’s favorite drink. Themed bars, including “Martinis in Manhattan,” a “Balle Balle Bellini” bar, and nostalgic recreations of their favorite college clubs at the afterparty, made the night truly unforgettable.

About The Wedding

1. Bridal Lehenga: Sahiba’s wedding lehenga is a masterpiece designed by Manish Malhotra in shades of deep red and soft pink, with intricate red and gold embroidery. The true magic lies in its personalization woven into the fabric is her favourite mantra from the Anand Karaj, "Tohi Mohi, Mohi Tohi" (You are me, and I am you), elegantly inscribed in Punjabi script along the border. Adding to the sentiment, Ani’s name is delicately embroidered onto the lehenga, alongside the names of the people who raised her, encircling her dupatta like a blessing. Paired with her 130-year-old heirloom jewellery, this look is a stunning fusion of old-world grandeur and timeless tradition, a regal vision never seen before.

2. The Story Behind the Venue: Long before she met Ani, Sahiba had already chosen her wedding venue. The first time she set foot in The Oberoi Udaivilas, it had just opened, and as a little girl, she ran through its grand corridors, mesmerized by its beauty. Her father still has videos of her, wide-eyed and enchanted, declaring that one day, she would get married there. For Sahiba, this wasn’t just a venue, it was a childhood dream, a vision she carried in her heart for years. And now, standing under the same majestic domes as a bride, with Ani by her side, that dream has come full circle in the most magical way.

3. Heirloom Jewellery with Generations of Legacy: Sahiba wore four generations of heirloom jewellery, dating back approximately 130 years, featuring precious stones that carried deep-rooted family history. These treasures came from both her royal and farming lineage, making each piece a symbol of tradition and love. The newest addition to her collection was a pair of diamond earrings, custom-designed with her family’s jeweler, Kanjimull Jewelers in Delhi, exclusively for the reception.

4. Personalized Reception Seating Chart: Instead of traditional place cards, the couple created a bookshelf-themed seating chart. Each guest receives a beautifully designed wooden box resembling a book, with their name on the spine and custom artwork on the cover. Inside, they will find a personal touch: a printed photo capturing a cherished memory with the couple, a handwritten letter from Anirudh and Sahiba, and a ‘ticket’ revealing their table number—each table named after a special date in the couple’s relationship.

5. Custom Playing Cards: Playing cards had always been a beloved pastime for both families, making it the perfect wedding keepsake. The couple collaborated with their stationery artist to design a unique deck, featuring illustrations of their parents as maharajas and maharanis, themselves as the Jacks, and their siblings as the Jokers.

6. Diptyque Candle Wedding Favours: The very first gift Anirudh ever gave Sahiba was a Diptyque Baies candle, a symbol of their early days together. To commemorate this meaningful gesture, each wedding guest received a Diptyque Baies candle on the final day of the celebrations, accompanied by a thank-you note explaining its sentimental significance.

7. Customized Napkins: Personalized details were woven into every part of Sabi and Ani’s wedding, including custom napkins for each main event. At the Sangeet, navy napkins with gold lettering welcomed guests and invited them to the dance floor. For the Haldi/Mehendi, pink napkins featured a snapshot of the text message that rekindled their love in Delhi. At the Reception, ivory napkins added a playful touch with a “Two Truths and a Lie” game, where guests could guess fun facts about the couple. These small yet thoughtful touches made their celebration even more personal and unforgettable.

Wedding Planning: Morani & Soorma★ 5

From the moment I first spoke with Karan and Noureen, I just felt at ease. From that day and through the wedding, they made every challenge, moment of chaos, and all the work that goes into creating magic seem effortless. Their ability to constantly be at ease is honestly inspiring. I remember one distinct moment when Noureen saw me stressed at the wedding, whispered calm down and waved her hand gently to motion to me that I should relax, and just like that, her energy released any tension I had. The whole team flawlessly executed every moment of my dreams and my wildest ideas, but more than that, they were a support system and a source of peace. Even my dad began to trust and talk to Rupali from the team more than me! That energy trickles down to their entire team, who made our wedding pure perfection, cinematic, and so much fun!

Guest Relations and Wedding Management: The Wedding Trunk★ 5

There are no words to express how grateful we are to Shazia and the entire TWT team. Our wedding and sanity would not be the same without them. From Shazia’s meticulous spreadsheets and getting all the guest details right to ensuring every family need was met to finally indulging us in crazy ideas like sending welcome videos timed with each flight, the team made it all happen so flawlessly. Our guests were wowed at every turn, and TWT truly made that happen. There was no money better spent than hiring them and I wish I could have Shazia work with me on every life project here on out!

Shahena is the most positive, bright, and thoughtful personality - and that comes through in her incredible artwork and knack for creative design. Every piece she designed was intentional and she thought of details we never considered in our fonts, color palettes, cute additions and characters. She was always up for a challenge and never turned us down. We are so grateful for her vision and for creating such unique welcome booklets, programs, invitations, menus and even custom playing cards with illustrations of our family! She indulged our wildest ideas as well - including creating custom “book” boxes for each guest at the reception and ensured they came out perfect. We couldn’t recommend her work more.
