BY Sakshi | 30 Dec, 2025 | 184 views | 2 min read

A baraat is the groom's wedding procession and it is one of the most vibrant and celebratory parts of Indian weddings. The baraat traditionally includes the groom arriving on a decorated horse, or sometimes on an elephant, accompanied by family and friends, from his house to the wedding venue.

The live music of the dhol and shehnai creates a grand atmosphere of dancing and celebrating in the streets by the groom's family and friends.

The Baraat at its core represents the joy of the families and creating memorable experiences for the families and helps build excitement before the ceremony.

It usually occurs just before the main wedding ceremony and can last anywhere between 1-3 hours depending on the distance and the celebrations. The baraat ends with the groom's arrival at the wedding venue and is followed by welcome ceremonies by the bride's family.

Nowadays, even baraat celebrations have become modern, with incorporation of luxury and vintage cars and unique vehicles instead of horses. Often, DJ systems and modern music is enjoyed with choreographed dance performances to make the celebrations more fun and lively.

If you want to make your baraat a unique and fun filled experience for your guests, then take a look at these innovative baraat trends to make it a memorable experience.
