Dream Artisans Photography

Right from the day I considered becoming a mother, I always dreamt of all the special events I would be hosting for the little person in our life. The first such event would definitely be his annaprashan. I meticulously planned this event, right from the venue to the food and the photography. While I was successfully able to manage most of it remotely, one thing that was a complete letdown was the photography. I engaged Dream Artisans Photography - Wedding Photographer, Kolkata for this event. My relationship with them goes back to my wedding. They had done a wonderful job back then and I booked them this time without batting an eyelid. I did have suggestions from friends but given my relationship with them, I did not shop around. This was a huge mistake from my end as they single-handedly ruined the entire event. We will forget about the venue and the food at some point. What we would preserve and cherish would be the photos from this event. Unfortunately, they did not leave anything worth cherishing for us. According to them, it is our responsibility to tell them to be with the child to shoot candid photos and not theirs. We should have posed with the baby and guests so that they would get their perfect shots. For a major part of the day they were just sitting around waiting for us to pose rather than getting candid shots of the event and the guests. We had to go and request them to take photos and not wait for us. The candid photos that they shot are nothing short of a joke. Even the venue, totto and ritual photos that they have shot could jolly well be photographed using a mobile camera. There was no point paying them a hefty sum to do this job. I made the full payment for their services even before the photos and videos were delivered. What compelled me to write this post though is the sheer arrogance of their proprietor Bilwanath Chatterjee . After they shot my wedding, I had referred them to countless people and praised them endlessly. This time when I pointed out the shoddy job that his team has done, he didn't even think it necessary to apologise. When I asked him what was the point of paying a large amount for such photos, he didn't even think it is necessary to reply. I have seen him do this with others in the past but never did I imagine I would be at the receiving end at one point. His idea of compensation was to shoot some individual photos of my son some other day completely overlooking the fact that this was a once-in-a-lifetime event and will not happen again. When he gave me the video, it was equally pathetic. He is now not even sharing the raw files so that I can get it edited from somewhere else. Also, when I asked him for a refund based on the horrible output, he flatly refused and said he has delivered what he was supposed to deliver but this is not we what we paid him to do. I am completely disappointed and would advise everyone to think twice before using their services.
