A Dreamy Udaipur Wedding Serving Tradition, Glam & Everything In Between!

Okay, picture this- two New Jersey kids with desi roots who met at a friend’s birthday trip, fell for each other over food adventures, and now just pulled off the most Pinterest-worthy wedding in Udaipur. We’re talking poolside haldi with Mughal backdrops, mehendi turning into a twilight garden, a wedding under a floral “Promise Tree,” and a reception so glam it could’ve been a fashion editorial. Every event had its own personality, and trust us, the vibe was immaculate!

Meet Dhara and Sid

Dhara, with roots in Gujarat, and Sidharth, with roots in Bihar, were both born and raised in the US. Dhara, born in Queens, New York, and raised in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a physician assistant, while Sidharth, born and raised in New Jersey as well, is a restaurateur known for Aarzu, Ramen Nagomi, and several upcoming hospitality ventures across New York and New Jersey. Their story began at a friend’s birthday getaway in the Poconos - what started as quiet familiarity grew into a relationship defined by intentionality, food adventures, and emotional steadiness. Sid’s calm presence and thoughtful gestures, from planning personalized food tours to recreating their first picnic date during a surprise proposal in Napa, reflected the couple’s approach to love: grounded, enduring, and filled with genuine joy.

Haldi

The Haldi was hosted poolside with vibrant florals, sun-washed decor, and a Mughal-inspired teal backdrop. Guests playfully applied turmeric while showering the couple with rose petals and laughter.

Welcome Lunch, Mehendi & Sangeet

The festivities began with a Welcome Lunch across Raffles Udaipur and Taj Lake Palace, where guests were greeted with traditional dhols, Rajasthani folk artists, and handcrafted mehndi kits. The Mehndi & Sangeet followed at the Great Park. Daytime decor featured tropical, Rajasthani motifs - birdcages, florals, and colorful lounge seating, while the night transitioned into a Twilight Garden fantasy with chandeliers, a canopy of florals, and over ten performances by loved ones.

Wedding Ceremony & Dinner

Later, the Varmala Ceremony took place under “The Promise Tree,” a towering floral installation symbolizing growth and commitment. The Wedding Ceremony unfolded indoors under a mirrored aisle and a floral-draped mandap evoking the idea of a “Mirror of Forever.” Guests rang bells during the pheras, creating an immersive, emotional experience for all. The Wedding Dinner channeled an Indo-English garden aesthetic with brass, native foliage, and subtle romantic lighting.

Pool Party, Cocktail Hour & Reception

The midday Pool Party was a pastel dream set against Raffles’ tranquil poolside, inspired by spinning windmills and floral movement. A pink-hued backdrop, oversized blooms, and live musicians brought vibrancy and levity.  As the sun set, guests gathered for a Cocktail Hour by the main fountain, featuring a live illusionist and violinist. The final event, the Reception, was an editorial-style black-and-metallic evening called “Midnight Opulence”. A canopy of white florals and black crystal chandeliers gave way to a celestial dance floor and a high-glam backdrop of arched displays and moody lighting. About The Wedding

Dhara Patel and Sidharth Sharma celebrated their love with a multi-day wedding at Raffles Udaipur from March 5 to 7, 2025, following an intimate Grah Shanti in Ahmedabad and Tilak Vidhi in New Jersey. Their three-day celebration unfolded across the majestic Raffles property, with each event capturing a distinct mood, from joyous tradition to high-glam-revelry, haha. With its private island setting, European-meets-Indian architecture, and lakeside serenity, Raffles provided a luxurious yet heartfelt canvas for their vision. Live calligraphy stations, Lac bangle makers, and interactive stalls added cultural flair to the celebrations.
