Meet Prajakta & Suraj
"He was chatting with some of my friends. Once we got talking, there was an instant connection! Those were Blackberry days in 2014, yep, we go really back in time. After a few weeks of talking to each other day & night, we decided to finally meet and our first date was in April 2014. That's it, since then, there was no looking back!," shares Prajakta.
The Engagement
The Wedding
From The Bride
"Our wedding was an intimate affair with just family and close friends. Since most of our guests had traveled from overseas to be there for us, we made sure we spent quality time with everyone.
The decor was a floral wall with colorful roses- our subtle outfits popped just right against the backdrop The seating was round tables with floral centerpieces. We did rituals that made sense to us and didn’t follow them for the heck of it. For instance, there was no bidai- I preferred having that moment with just my family than have them get upset in front of all our guests.
Our Engagement was a fun night with cocktails and dhol (oh, did I mention LED dholwala) which was a surprise planned by the grooms family. It was so unexpected- this was a cocktail party with a formal dress code after all! Everything was in shades of blue and white with blue orchids and white lilies. We paid special attention to cute little details like a ‘welcome to our beginning' board at the entrance and a ‘Mr & Mrs chairs'. This function was all about soft lighting in a wintery open air space.
For the mehendi ceremony, bright yellow flowers with white comfy cushioned seating decorated our home. Chaat and other savory foods along with alcohol set the tone for the evening. My mehendi design depicted our love story with a timeline of our time together with important dates and events. I saw this concept online and decided to incorporate it. I even got a manicure done, with our initials ‘PS’ on my ring finger which was a great idea for the engagement day by my manicurist Anisha Mulchandani - Muah Salon Bandra. The giveaway for the mehendi were gold bags that matched my gold lehenga which the guests carried to the wedding ceremony to match the bride," shares Prajakta. She also made sure she had something special to say about each of her vendors-
Amrit Kaur- "The most important aspect of the wedding look is the makeup & Amrit is extraordinary with her work. If you are willing to spend on premium hair-makeup definitely go for her, I booked her 8 months in advance even before I bought my outfit.
Dolly J - The Engagement gown was by designer Dolly J- the light blue gown with crystals embellished all over and fur detailing was dreamy A long trail and a slit completed the glamorous details. I wore a diamond set with rubies and a matching bracelet all from Tanishq Jewellery. Dolly J and her team are the most professional and co-operative bunch of people. They delivered my outfit few days before the delivery date with all the necessary fittings and trials. The designer personally made sure that we were completely satisfied with the final outcome. After several video calls and even sending the outfit to Delhi twice where the designer is based, it was still delivered in time.
Plush Affairs - Photography is the thread that binds all the other elements of the wedding together and Plush Affairs nailed it ! They had a great team of photographers that captured us in the most beautiful way possible. They edited our pictures with our inputs and all of the pictures were delivered on time as per the schedule. Highly recommend them.
Neeraj Navare - Neeraj is a celebrity makeup artist. We met in Thailand where he had done makeup for my friend's wedding. I decided there and then that he would do my Engagement makeup. He has a fresh and unique style of makeup- for him I will say less is definitely more.
Sea Princess Hotel, Juhu- We had an evening wedding ceremony so I wanted good lighting for this event. Sea princess has a gorgeous ballroom with lotus chandelier that was booked for the wedding. The food menu was specially curated by their head chef Mr Amit and we got a lot of compliments for the food; the service was great too. The food was served to the guests on their tables very promptly instead of walking around with plates," she completes.
