A Pretty & Minimal Rishikesh Wedding That Let Nature Take Centre Stage!

Some love stories are straight out of a movie, and Purvi & Shashank’s is exactly that! From being school buddies (yes, in the same school where Dhoni studied) to confessing their feelings after two years of friendship, these two have been inseparable for 12 years now. And when it came to saying “I do,” they chose no ordinary venue but the breathtaking ghats of Rishikesh, with the Holy Ganges as their backdrop and nature as their moodboard. With a Sabyasachi Benarasi lehenga, lotus-filled décor, and a vibe that was soulful yet fuss-free, their wedding, captured by Riwayatein★ 5 beautifully was equal parts personal, serene, and pretty! 

Meet Purvi and Shashank

We both feel as if we were destined to meet. I went from hometown to Ranchi for higher studies, got into the same school and same section. We have been school buddies and studied in the same school where Dhoni studied (I had a huge crush on him) and met Shashank there. We started as friends and after two years of being friends, we proposed to each other. It has been 12 years together and we still feel as it is yesterday.

About The Wedding

Our wedding took place on November 28, 2024, and we knew from the start that it had to reflect us. Both of us are avid travellers, and it was back in 2016, during a trip to Rishikesh, that we sat by the banks of Maa Ganga and promised each other—“one day, we’ll get married here.” The city’s pristine beauty and spiritual calm stayed with us, and it felt only right to begin our forever in the same place.

With Shashank’s roots in Banaras, I chose a classic Sabyasachi Benarasi lehenga for the big day. Since he loves keeping things simple, we skipped all things flashy and instead let Maa Ganga be the centerpiece, designing our décor in harmony with nature. Uttarakhand, being Devbhoomi and the sacred abode of Bhagwan Badri Vishal, inspired us to weave in elements that felt divine. Our wedding décor was filled with lotuses—flowers deeply connected to Bhagwan Vishnu and Mata Lakshmi—which gave everything a serene and spiritual touch.

It truly felt surreal, as if the divine was blessing us throughout. Staying mindful of our values, we also made sure the celebration was eco-conscious- keeping plastic use to a minimum and ensuring the ghats were cleaned up immediately after. And of course, when it came to planning, the WedMeGood app was my go-to for browsing reviews and locking in vendors!

My photographer Nikhil Malhotra from Riwayatein is a gem of artist. Our expectations with him was to capture as many emotions and candids as possible and he did an amazing job at that. My mom and my picture went viral over the Internet and I got so many compliments about how the photograph touched many hearts. 

Makeup Artist: Makeup by Ansh★ 4.9

The first thing that I did once the wedding was finalised was booking my makeup artist Ansh(makeupbyansh). I wanted to look myself in the wedding and I could not find a perfect person to do that. While most MUAs give you so much stress about the big day, Ansh was my go-to person if I panicked. He is such a sweetheart and he plans your look, styling etc way ahead and you don’t have to be tensed at all! Must recommended to every bride who wants to look unapologetically herself.

Amraay wedding did our decor and they planned amazingly well based on our taste and choice. Decor was always ready much before the rituals started and we did not have any hard time or last moment mishaps with them.
