A Truly Unique Bangalore Wedding With No Religious Ceremonies

BY Sakshi | 11 Oct, 2022 | 1475 views | 5 min read

What happens when a wedding planner falls in love with a restauranteer? A wedding that has gorgeous decor, scrumptious food and in this case, a ceremony like no other! Noor and Saahil had a truly unique wedding in Bangalore wherein the couple had a registered marriage and then a ceremony just to celebrate with their near and dear ones. The bride Noor honoured her nani and dadi by wearing something of theirs for her ceremony, which we think was super special and beautiful. Their wedding looked like a celebration of love and joy, and Ankit Singh captured all the emotions and the warmth on his lens to perfection.

P.S. The bride's own company, Wedding Tales★ 4.9 planned this beautiful intimate wedding!

Meet Noor and Saahil

Saahil and I met through common friends. We had been in each other's circles for a while before we met. And when we did, we both were dating other people. Cut to 3 years later, we were both single - i was in Mumbai for a wedding and he slid into my DMs. And the rest is history.

Reception

From The Bride:

The main thing we wanted for our wedding was for people to have a fun time, whatever their definition of fun is - if food is fun, we had the best food, if music is fun we had the best music for every decade and generation, if alcohol is fun we had great alcohol. The venue was a defence mess in a colony that I grew up in and it was perfect. A large part of our families and friends were meeting each other after a long time, so we wanted to make sure that they had the best time. Since we weren't having a religious ceremony, we opted for a registered marriage a few days prior. For the actual wedding day, we had two speeches from either side of the families and two from friends n either side. We exchanges garlands, vows and we did the toe ring ceremony (a South Indian tradition I love and wanted to incorporate). And after that to the sounds of a live santoor, we laughed and made merry.

Vendor Reviews

Photography: Ankit Singh

I've known from the first wedding we shot together that he would eventually shoot my wedding. It was a no brainer. I was most comfortable with him and we just had a great time. His team is amazing and I love all of them.

Makeup Artist: Tejal Rao

She is bae. I loved collaborating with her for all my looks and she just gets me. We had a blast during the wedding and she really help keep me calm. I love her.

Wedding Planning: Wedding Tales (Bride's Company)

Me. Haha. Wedding Tales. Being a wedding planner, this was my Magnum Opus. And my amazing partner and team really brought my vision to life. I think it was beyond perfect.

Decor: Melting flower

Kashif and his team really went over and above for my wedding. We have done over 100 weddings together and he understands the brief soo well. Every piece of decor was spot on. And I'm eternally grateful to the whole team.

Bridal Outfits

I collaborated with Seema aunty for all my clothes. My Mehendi outfit was a chill cotton dress with a dull gold gota with large silver earrings. My Sangeet outfit was a gorgeous chikankari saree from Saman Boutique in Lucknow. I paired the saree with a pink boat neck blouse with zardosi accents. I wore gorgeous kundan earring from Aquamarine. I knew I wanted to pay homage to both my grandmothers who weren't with us in my wedding outfit. My dadi had a lovely peach-colored silk brocade faarshi gharara made in 1957 and she wore it only once. It was preserved very well by my aunts. I got a beautiful green dupatta made in Lucknow at Madanlal. They copied the design on the gharara onto the dupatta. I wore my Nani’s Jewellry including her gold pauzeb (large anklets) to complete my look. My reception outfit was a gherdaar lehenga made of tanchoi fabric in pink purple and grey. The blouse was covered in mirrors and backless with a simple pink dupatta. I paired this outfit with temple jewellery from Mauve Unit and Aaharya. All my outfits were paired with custom jhootis from sozan, Jaipur.

Mehendi Artist: Nalini Behn

The best mehendi artist !! Her team is very talented. Since I'm not a big fan of mehendi, i wanted a minimalist design and she executed it beautifully.

Groomwear: Nicky Prithiyani

I found Nicky randomly while I was researching designers in Mumbai. As soon as we met him, we knew he would dress all the men on Saahil's side (Saahil, his dad, and his brother). His knowledge of fabrics, cuts, and design was very impressive. For the Mehendi, he wore a lovely yellow kurta that unfortunately was destroyed at his manjha. For the sangeet, he wore a dark purple bandgala with antique buttons. For the wedding, he wore a self-design sherwani with green accents to match me. We had custom jhooti’s made for him by sozan jaipur to complete the wedding look. For the reception, he wore a three-piece all-black suit.

Catering: The Creative Kitchen

Our amazing caterers who had a tough job. Both families are foodie families and it was a task to get the perfect menu. The food at our wedding is still a talking point with everyone we meet.

Bartending: Sling Bartenders

Rakesh from Sling bartenders - best bartenders in town. 3 years later and people still complement us on our bartenders.
