Bridal Breakdown: Rakul Preet Singh In Tarun Tahiliani

BY Sakshi | 22 Feb, 2024 | 1477 views | 6 min read

Looks like pastels are the way to go for Bollywood brides (again) after the reds and ivories. Anushka Sharma wore pastel, after which it gained immense popularity- and then reds came right back in with Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. Alia Bhatt stunned everyone in ivory and gold, and Parineeti Chopra soon followed suit. And now, we have Kiara Advani, Athiya Shetty and Rakul Preet, who seem to be bringing back pastel pinks in vogue. The first big Bollywood wedding of 2024 had actress Rakul Preet getting married to Jackky Bhagnani, and her bridal style was contemporary and pretty. Here's what we loved about her bridal look:

Wedding

Let's start with the wedding first, and discuss her look in detail!

Outfit: Rakul Preet was a dreamy, pretty bride in a blush pink custom-made Tarun Tahiliani lehenga, which was adorned with floral motifs- very modern and trendy.  Styled by Ami Patel, Rakul's TT lehenga was very intricate if you look closely. Take a look at those beautiful sleeves- sheer, but see those little pearls along the elbow which add such a whimsical look to the outfit? The blouse featured sheer tulle sleeveadorned with graded pearls and crystal detailing- pretty pretty! The dupattas are super dainty too! Scattered floral motifs and a structured tulle veil reminiscent of a floral cascade, which was adorned with whimsical stars and scattered Swarovski crystals.

Mehendi, Kaleeras & Chooda: Classic jaali bridal mehendi, minimal kaleeras and a light chooda. She picked a classic jaali bridal mehendi design, which added a touch of tradition to the otherwise modern look. The bespoke kaleeras by Mrinalini Chandra were personalised yet subtle, accentuated by a pastel pink chooda to complement her blush pink lehenga. Her kaleeras featured strings of hearts instead of ghungroos, symbolizing a modern twist that harmonized beautifully with tradition. Adorned with heartfelt messages and blessings from her loved ones nestled in adorable little envelopes, they added a touch of personal charm to her ensemble.

Makeup and Hair: Rakul Preet's makeup by her MUA @im__sal was picture perfect for a pastel lehenga too. She carried on the tradition of natural but glowy makeup which looked like it was barely there, which is very 2024. She rocked a glowy nude glam look - with soft nude pinks on her lips and cheeks, and subtle contouring. The eyebrows and lashes were bold and beautiful, enhancing her features further. Minimal bridal makeup is here, and we are loving the trend!

Jewellery: When it came to the jewellery, everything was loud and proud! She wore polki jewellery with huge uncut diamonds, and it was a single oversized necklace, which was in contrast to her otherwise subtle lehenga. And last, but not the least, take a look at that gorgeous ring with the huuuge rock!

Jaimalas: So they didn't do only roses and they didn't do only baby's breath either. The jaimalas were a pretty addition to their look, which added without distracting and looked pretty in the photos too.

Anand Karaj

Now this look was pretty different from her wedding look, although it wasn't too far from pastels- the couple rocked ivory and gold.

Outfit: This outfit was designed by Tarun Tahiliani too. It was a resplendent chikankari lehenga, adorned with mirror work, draped her in soft ivory and gold tones. Paired harmoniously with an embellished blouse boasting exaggerated sleeves, and a silk tissue georgette veil delicately scalloped, the highlight of the look was definitely that blouse!

Makeup and Hair: The makeup for this look was very similar to the bridal makeup, except this time instead of soft rosy tones, it was soft brown on the eyes, cheeks and lips. The hair was yet again in a low bun.

Jewellery: The jewellery was again polki, this time with a pop of soft green- and layered with a few necklaces more. Honestly, a little bit of a let down as compared to the lehenga.

Haldi

This was easily one of our fave looks from her wedding festivities on her. A playful look in a bespoke Papa Don't Preach lehenga, with custom jewellery which was so new! Reflecting the spirit of joy, fun and mischief of the occasion and ditching floral jewellery for this customised beaded floral earnings which added so much to the look!

Mehendi

For the Mehendi, Rakul wore an Arpita Mehta creation paired with some statement jewellery, and a cape which was the highlight of the look. In the designer's words, "For Rakul, incorporating her culture and roots into her look was paramount. As a Sikh Punjabi girl, we drew inspiration from the beautiful world of phulkari to craft a truly enchanting ensemble.

"The outfit we designed for Rakul is a toasted orange and pink ensemble, adorned with geometric floral phulkari motifs, characteristic of this traditional art form. The centerpiece of the ensemble is an elaborate hand-embroidered cape, complemented by a corset blouse and a pleated skirt, all meticulously crafted to showcase a blend of classic traditions and modern silhouettes."

Sangeet

For the Sangeet, it was an embellished soft pastel lehenga again.

Outfit: The lehenga was designed by Falguni Shane, and the blouse with the attached dupatta cape was the highlight of her look. The actor dazzled and danced the evening away in a stunning off-white and silver lehenga, replete with intricate light gold embroidery on a beige base. The ensemble was adorned with Swarovski stones, crystals, sequins, beads, and silver acrylic flowers each having pearl tassel details. Completing the look is a handcrafted blouse with full sleeves and a toasted beige shoulder cape, created from tulle and adorned with floral accents.

Makeup and Hair: This time around she left her hair loose, which added a breezy look to her ensemble. The makeup was again glam nude.

Jewellery: She let the outfit do the talking with a layered diamond necklace to complement the blouse and look one with it.

Dhol Night

The Dhol Night look was the only one which was colourful. She wore a Christmas green sharer set with sequin work by Seema Gujral, which looked elegant and breezy on her. She paired it with a green and gold choker which looked like an effortlessly elegant ensemble.

Sneaker Obsession!

The bride changed into sneakers for 3 events, and we feel her! Comfort and style- now that's a match made in heaven, isn't it?
