Cute Punjabi-Christian Wedding With So Many Special Ideas!

BY Sakshi | 05 Jul, 2023 | 1553 views | 8 min read

There is so much love about Heena and Arsh's wedding- starting from the fact that the bride took it upon herself to fund her part of the wedding! They had a cross-culture wedding in Shimla which had so many ideas and additions that truly made it special and heartwarming. They had a Punjabi-Christian wedding with elements from both the cultures, and we love how thoughtful everything was. Take a look at this special union.

Meet Heena and Arsh

We used to work at the same place- The Oberoi, Gurgaon. I was doing my management course and he was doing his on the job training

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on October 7, 2022. Our was right out of a fairy tale for us, which had drama, action, emotion everything. We are from different religion and he is 4.5 years younger to me, it wasn’t an easy union but in the end everything worked out just  right for us. We got married in Shimla amongst our favourite friends and family. It was a blast, best of both cultures.

This marriage was nothing short of a dream come true, it rained on the wedding for a while and the next thing we know it became the most dreamiest location once it stopped raining, to get married in the clouds, the perfect twilight was magical. The wedding was everything we imagined and more because of our lovely friends who helped us out. We wanted to honour both of cultures- Punjabi and Christianity. Here are some special things we did at our wedding:

  • We wanted to do a tribute to my father so we did our in the living memory of table with the people who had passed away pictures.
  • We did wedding favours from all things chocolate “ all things Heena and Arsh”. My very close friend did our wedding cake.
  • We didn’t have a hashtag really as nothing organic was coming out of it so we decided to go with an ironic hashtag #itsanohashtagwedding.
  • My best friend is my anchor and my life saviour and my person so she walked me down the aisle, this was truly the most important thing to me for my wedding and there was no way I was going to let anyone change my mind about this.
  • We did Polaroid pictures at the wedding on each event which was a big hit amongst our family and friends.
  • There were bubbles at the wedding along with flowers to shower on the couple once married.
  • We gave out some unique favours: Ugao seeds, a 'crazy little thing called love' hoops, phulkari dupattas etc.

About WedMeGood

My wedding venue was decided from WedMeGood and all special touches inspiration came through the app! Something that also really helped me initially was the timeline that WedMeGood has created. Like I said in the beginning I didn’t have a planner on board so WedMeGood helped me prepare for it. Also, the articles!! Oh my god they are a life saver! What to ask the photographer, make up artist, things to check at the venue, budgeting, hidden costs. It was an invisible vendor at the wedding! Plus I think the lost important and truly special of how the messages remind you that you are getting married on a few days!! Family might forget and get busy but just those messages at work would bring a smile on any bride’s face :)

Vendor Reviews

Venues: Koti Resorts & Marina, Shimla

Both our venues were a winner. We decided to get married in Shimla because of the venue. We had Koti resorts and Marina and oh my god the service, the food, the people were exceptional. They treated it like it was an important event for them too and went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure we all were happy and taken care of . The view at both the places is to die for. And because of these venues we felt like it was a fairy tale wedding. At Koti, the perfect twilight took our breath away❤️

Makeup Artist: Brenda Dewan

My makeup artist was no less than genie, Brenda Dewan. I was very worried that who will I find in Shimla and every from Delhi was way above my budget because of the travel cost and then I found a gem in Shimla, Brenda. She did a great job, not just with me but my family and friends. Everyone was in awe of her work and professionalism. My mother-in-law told her that I looked like the most beautiful girl on earth and obviously it was because of Brenda! Highly recommend her!

Wedding Planning: Mandap Martini

I had a wedding of my dreams and it was only possible because of Ria and her team. While we were planning the wedding we never thought of getting a planner on board but I am so glad that we changed our decision and decided to get Mandap Martini on board. They all became a part of the family. There were so many issues that I am sure didn’t even reach me and were resolved by Ria and her team instantly. All my family and friends are in awe of how they worked relentlessly to give me the wedding that I have ALWAYS wanted. Always the first ones to wake up and last ones to go to sleep. She stuck to my budget, got in touch with numerous vendors, managed cabs, difficult vendors, different family expectations and above all during all this she never made me feel that I was being unreasonable, there was always a big smile and a statement “you don’t worry, you focus on yourself, baaki sab main dekh rahi hoon, hojayega”. And I think this kind of assurance is so important and to be available for your clients and giving them this kind of emotional support is truly commendable and above and beyond their call of duty.

Decor was mostly managed by our event planner themselves. They got a local guy to do the decor who followed our planners instructions and did a good job with it. But I will be taking the credit away from my planners if I say that the decor guy did most things by himself because it was actually my planners who did everything. From stitching the tassels to standing on the ladder to put on the lights! Through it all!

Photography: The Wedding Files

Wedding Files were a delight to be around, in fact I think we were difficult clients for them as my husband and I are both are very uncomfortable when it comes to posing etc and we were always partying and dancing. They never got too upset with us and managed to bring out the best pictures in the limited time we could offer. We are so happy with the pictures. Also before the wedding, Amrit took out the time to ask us about how we wanted the flow , our vendors, our style, our story and I think it’s very important for us to be on the same page when something so personal is happening for a couple and he understood how important this day was for us. They did a great job plus a big bonus was that we never had to ask him for the pictures because it was delivered within 2 weeks and we were so happy about it.

Bridal Outfits:

Cocktail: Astha Narang

That lehenga was love at first sight, I bought that one along with my best friend even when my husband had not proposed me for the wedding but I was sure if I get married I am wearing that one and I was so scared that this design might go out of stock so without thinking twice we bought it and it was stunning.

Welcome Dinner: Sureena Chowdhri

This one was a velvet purple saree. It was a last minute pick but so worth it, even if you are not wearing a jewellery piece that saree can make you look like a show stopper.

Mehendi: Akriti by Ritika from Patiala

This one is special to me because orange is my fave colour plus this one was gifted to me by my best friend’s mother so it holds a lot of emotional value for me plus I love Punjabi Sui and dabba work and I have always wanted a heirloom and this outfit again was just the right balance of smile and heavy work, a plain simple tissue burnt orange lehenga and a stunning dupatta.

Wedding Gown: Karleo Mumbai

Well I can only say all my visits to Mumbai from Delhi almost every second month were so worth it. I was coordinating with Pooja and she was a delight, it’s so funny from how we started talking about a design in my mind and ended up 6 months later on a design that I always knew I wanted but got swayed away with different ideas. A neat simple off shoulder with delicate embroidery and the simple trail length of the dress.
