Yup, we have heard of brides who do their wedding, their way, but very rarely have we come across brides who choose to go through their special day without decking up. I mean, this Pakistani bride went viral for her gorgeous look sans makeup or jewellery, and here we have Nehmat, an Indian bride who had a wedding without getting decked up like a bride, but still looked beautiful! Over to Nehmat now, who tells us all about it!
I got married on October 7, 2024 to the love of my life Ranjodh. We confessed love on our 5th date itself last year, got rokafied on October 7th 2023, and solemnized our souls' union exactly after a year. What makes our wedding super unique is that I wore NO MAKEUP, NO JEWELLERY for my Anand Karaj, Wedding & Sangeet. Another thing I was sure about was that there was no Milni (giving of gifts to groom family/ relatives).
I got ready by myself, and used only lipbalm, hair finishing stick & face cream. No salon, no hair or makeup artist! In addition, I applied no mehendi or haldi, because I never liked their smell.
I wore simple dresses & suits - each under INR 15,000. My Anand Karaj outfit was from Gulabo Jaipur. My 2nd wedding outfit was self-conceptualised, stitched by local tailor.
I always been a very simple and rebellious person, so on the most important day of my life I did not want to change that about myself. I did not want to do anything just out of social pressure. I wanted to be my happiest self and look the way I am truly inside-out. My parents and my husband have been very supportive and all they wished was to enjoy the special day and not think of what people are going to say. So that's what we did!
My husband and I danced freely, were not at all shy, we were laughing, smiling & enjoying every moment to the fullest. For us, our wedding was a pure celebration of our love, union of our hearts and our future together.
