Intimate, Sustainable San Francisco Wedding In The Forest Planned By The Couple Themselves

BY Sakshi | 07 Sep, 2021 | 1846 views | 4 min read

There's something so fairytale- like about an intimate wedding in the forest. We love the idea for a pandemic wedding, and it's great to see couples making sure the weddings are sustainable too. Tejal and Simrat had an adorable wedding in San Fransisco, and picked the woods to say their 'I Do's'. The wedding was absolutely lovely, and we loved everything about it. From the bride's pretty and subtle pastel lehenga, to the understated decor and the cozy venue, this one has a beautiful feel to it!

Meet Tejal and Simrat

The groom, Simrat tells us, "Despite my disdain for dating apps, it was on one of those that I connected with Tejal. We had a rocky start, where my vegetarianism and aversion to animals (Tejal has a cat - who I love now!) almost put her off and she let the conversation die down. I spent $3 to re-open the conversation and keep things going, and that was probably the best $3 I've ever spent in my life! After that things flowed as smoothly as they could. We connected amazingly and the talks never ended. We finally decided to meet (Tejal asking me out this time, haha) at Half-Moon bay for our first date. I still vividly remember our walk along the beach, skirting the shore, only our feet in the water. That kickstarted our whirlwind romance and I fondly remember the back and forth between SF and Sunnyvale for our dates (from mini-golf to hiking to a rooftop bar). Two years down the line (including a year of quarantining together), and we were all set to tie the knot!"

The Wedding

From The Couple:

We realized we were meant to be during a hike in redwoods, so we decided to tie the knot in redwood forests. After a lot of struggles surrounding the pandemic, we finally tied the knot on August 14th, 2021. We tried to put everything together by ourselves. We were able to put together an intimate and sustainable wedding nestled in redwood forests.

Vendor Reviews

Photography: JJ Chen

We were blessed to have JJ as our wedding photographer. From the beginning itself, she tried to understand tried to talk to us and understand a sikh ceremony. She also went above and beyond by visiting the location of the ceremony to be well prepared for the wedding. Me and my fiance are not so camera friendly, she made sure we were being ourselves. She and her associate Yang both gave very good directions throughout the event. She found some amazing spots at the location. With almost no decorations at the location, JJ found some amazing spots and got us the best wedding pictures we could have ever got. We are so happy with the final output and pictures.

Bridal Wear: Aditya and Mohit

We got the bridal lehenga from Aditya and Mohit. Since I (Bride) lived outside of India, I was very skeptical of getting the bridal lehenga on Zoom. Aditya and Mohit made the whole experience very easy for us. They let my mother inlaw show the lehenga to us via a zoom call. They also made sure they described the design to me on call as the call was not so clear. They also honored the delivery date that they had initially mentioned even after the complications due to pandemic.

The size of the lehenga was taken remotely, they guided us throughout the size appointment. The lehenga was a perfect fit when we got it.We were very happy with the overall process and also the end result. The lehenga looked ethereal.

Makeup Artist: Raman Brar

I had my makeup done by Raman Brar. She was so adjusting when we had to reschedule the wedding during the pandemic. She explained to me various options and packages and also recommended the package I need to go with to get the desired end results. She also gave me a trial and understood my skin very well. She recommended various products and guided me on how to have good skin for the wedding day.  On the day of the wedding, Raman took care of everything from the hair, makeup to dressing me up. The bun was such a highlight. She made it look so perfect with natural loose flowers. I am so happy to have her for my wedding makeup.
