Meet Anint and Akshobya
"Akshobhya and I met each other in high school, as he had just moved back to India in 2005 after having lived abroad for a while. We initially shared a few classes together and as luck would have it, ended up ONLY applying to Canada for our university choices. "I never really had a vision for my wedding. If you actually think about weddings in Punjab/Delhi, the majority are almost identical, so for me, the most important thing was to make sure my mother was the happiest person at the events. As the eldest girl in my among my immediate family, my wedding was an 'event' everyone was looking forward to. Punjabi families can be large, mine alone would consist of 300-400 people, but at our wedding, we had only 140 people attend.
As girls we are given a platform to dream about for our weddings but it does have its limits. A destination wedding was never on the table, and Goa was never the place. But for my mother, she had a different vision for my wedding. That went way beyond satisfying society and making family happy. It was about me being happy and enjoying every moment of the wedding. My mother missed out on one thing and that was not being able to spend enough time with her mother at her wedding. There were more than 3000 people who attended her wedding, and she did not know most of them. So at our wedding, we had just my immediate family and rest were all family friends. People who came to be a part of my happiness and give us their true blessings. My vision as a bride wasn't as important, but what my mother's vision was for the wedding mattered more. And it was the best decision. Goa also was a random decision, family friend Vindu Dara Singh (who did a lot for this wedding) had proposed the idea of Goa and suggested we specifically look into Taj holiday village. And we were in Goa the very next afternoon and very happy with our choice" adds Anint.
