Regal Destination Wedding In Istanbul With A Backdrop Of The Bosphorous

BY Sakshi | 24 Nov, 2023 | 5966 views | 3 min read

Now this wedding is as beautiful as they come! The Bosphorous Strait looked splendid in the backdrop as Rovena Mehta and Karan Punjabi said their vows. The couple chose Istanbul for their dreamy destination wedding, and we are in awe of the venue. From the bride's beautiful Tarun Tahiliani lehenga in pink to the thoughtful details in the decor, this is one wedding you wouldn't want to miss.

Meet Rovena and Karan

We originally met in university in Boston. We reconnected when I was visiting a friend in Singapore and then did long distance between New York and Singapore during COVID.

After Party

From The Bride:

Mandvo & Ghari Ceremonies: This was hosted at the Shangri-La for immediate family. It was a simple puja followed by lunch. Vision was bright and vibrant - orange, pink, etc.

Welcome Dinner: We wanted this to be more casual event welcoming everyone to Turkey. We selected a beautiful restaurant called Murver with a rooftop overlooking the old city and all the historic sights.

Sangeet: This evening started with a cocktail boat ride down the Bosphorus to our venue, the Mandarin Oriental. The theme of the Sangeet was "evil eye" and we drew references from all the various evil eye motifs in Turkey.

Wedding: We wanted a regal palace wedding. The ceremony was held at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski, which is the only Ottoman imperial palace and hotel on the Bosphorus. We drew inspiration from Rajasthan, and the backdrop of the Bosphorus provided a stunning setting.

Reception: An extension of the wedding ceremony, our vision for the reception was to play off the rich and intricate design of the palace, and enhance the beautiful backdrop with hues of magenta, crimson, pink with lots of greenery. The central motif of this was the pomegranate, which was our wedding symbol and logo.
